How do you know that? Because he played in the majors?

He's already addressed and broken down the errors each player is making at the plate and what steps should be taken for improvement. The dude knows his shite more than what we have now. I think we can all agree on that.

If that's the case, then I'd certainly say he's a viable candidate (if he's spent a lot of time going to seminars/clinics and working with tons of high level players and such).

My point really was that just about everyone in this thread wants him to coach because he played in the majors, and played at LSU, and went on a rant that everyone loved... thus, "he must be a great coach"

While not necessarily on a “team” level, Theriot teaches at Traction, and has been for a few years now.

Dude, you're really out of touch if you didn't know this. His name gets brought up because of his history at Traction.

The problem with this statement is you have no clue what our coaches know and are teaching these kids. They could be coaching the same exact corrections and maybe the hitters just aren’t improving on what they are being taught. It’s one thing to hear it and another to actually do it when a nasty breaking ball or 95 mph fastball is coming at you in game speed. Maybe our hitters just aren’t good. I’m all for some fresh approaches with a new coach but to act like Theriot(a guy that’s never coached in his life) should be the new hitting coach at the one and only premier baseball school in the country(that’s for you bnfii) is laughable.

I dont know what qualifies him to be hitting coach, but if we're going to have former players involved with the program at such high levels of involvement, Theriot is exactly the kind of former player I want.

So he would be a reliable candidate since Cabrera is one of the better hitters on the team. His gritty mentality and approach to the game would be good also IMO.

I'll give you that. But, based on the results we're seeing - its not enough. It's not even close to being enough.

I wish I had the link from about 6 weeks ago on AFR when Theriot discussed, in detail, our problems at the plate. Sometimes, they really get serious on Fridays afternoons when he's on the air with Matt...like this clip that we all loved from a few days ago:

I'm not sure that fleecing delusional parents who hope their travel ball sons will eventually turn into major league players is qualification enough.

Yes, former player, but not one of Mainieri’s former players.

Not the best hitter in his family. I will take older brother Wes all day long.

He’s a great instructor, understands hitting and all the nuances, he doesn’t believe in the craze of launch angles and always hitting for bombs, he believes in having a plan and understanding the situation.. all of that is great but I see no chance of him moving over to that type of position. He enjoys what he’s done no by my interactions with him and to be honest, doesn’t like to leave town
