There is no doubt the Tiger on the helmet is the superior one. Toonces does look a little childish/cartoonish - but eh, we make it work.

It's way past time for a helmet refresh. I'm all for tradition, but we changed the helmet in the early 1970's (actually twice) to what's now the current version. It's awful. The tiger is unrecognizable and the letters look like someone formed them with electrical tape stuck on the helmet. Let's use the current "Geaux" font that we use everywhere else and freshen up the tiger logo. Or change the tiger for a tiger eye, like at midfield, which completely rocks. But we've got to do something about the helmet, it's old and stale. To satisfy the purists, I'd even be fine with going back to the true traditional helmet we used up until the early 70's, which was the purple number on the side.

I bought a sticker with that tiger from the Co-Op bookstore back in like 2004.

With a few tweaks here and there, I like either of these more than yawning tiger head. Larger color image of yawning tiger.

Too demonic. Maybe lay the ears backa nd it would look better.
Looked around on google at vector images and none quite strike a balance between clean, intimidating and not too cartoonish.

We made a big change a few years back and use the "Geaux" font everywhere else, why didn't we put in on the helmets too?
