Hotels people are giving up in Austin

Seen mentioned and a couple other threads about people canceling rooms “unless someone else wants it”
If anyone has a decent room near the south end of downtown near Rainey they are cancelling please email about possible transfer

Not kidding - I’ve done this a few times and it’s been great for games. Go to RVshare.com and pick out an RV near Austin that meets your budget and size needs. Pick it up or some will even drop it off - RV it for the weekend. Way cheaper than a hotel.

Ive seen other posts about this, but how would that work? As a Marriott rewards member, if i cancel the room, they then go back into the general pool.. and if i say ‘You can have the room i booked’, they check ur ID and CC, but it’s under my name .. so how would you theoretically use my room?

Austin now doesn't break up homeless encampments so just park a tent wherever you like. They won't do shite

Gave one of mine up at the Omni to another user here. Was able to change the name in Expedia and he called and paid with his credit card over the phone.

If I was going with my wife this would be the best alternative. My son, nephew, son-in-law, etc? Downtown or bust I’m afraid. I have the Residence Inn on E 4th st.
