Thinking about making the trip. Where's the best place or town to stay outside of Tuscaloosa? Montgomery? Help is appreciated.

I'm not going, but if I were, I'd look around Birmingham. That's less than an hour east of Tuscaloosa on I-20.

Montgomery isn't bad if you don't mind driving 2+ hours after the game.

Eta: if you're coming from BR, I'd stay in meridian.

In 2011 we booked a room like 30 miles away at some motel in Sketchville, AL and said frick that. Drove to Northport and somehow found a room at the Holiday Inn

Columbus, Mississippi is about 45 minutes west of Tuscaloosa. Fayette, Alabama has a couple of B & Bs but very limited number of rooms and is 45 minutes to an hour North of Tuscaloosa. There are a couple of relatively new motels in Winfield, Alabama which would be about 70 miles North. Jasper, Alabama also has a few and is also an hour out.

Yes on the Merdian posts. Much cheaper that t-town, and the risk of sexually assaulted by some bama homosexual drops 234% in Meridian.

La Quinta in Tuscaloosa has availability if you don't paying over $900 for two nights with taxes.

Staying in Meridian after the Courtyard Tuscaloosa tried to pull a fast one on me for the 2011 game.

Yeah, but it's Mississippi so be careful if you're black.

I know for a fact that the Motel 6 on McFarland will have a few rooms open up next week.

I've stayed there for 4 LSU/Bama games. It's exactly what you'd expect, but that ain't too bad. All you need is a place to sleep.
