As usual you’re just ignorant. A sponsor can’t force an NFL player to do an ad if they refuse. It goes to litigation and the player maybe forced to pay but he has the resources to make that move. A college athlete doesn’t and will be totally reliant on that money which gives the advertiser total control.

Great interception derek take us through that play...well I saw the qbs eyes look left and get big much like mine do when I'm staring down a shrimp poboy from walk ons. Go after the game and mention my name to receive 10% off on any appetizer. Now what were you asking?

You think Zion has the resources to pull out of his Nike deal?

I think it is a matter of time (short time) before we see the TEAM sponsor logos on college football jerseys.

The stupidity of the "panicdemic" dropped an unexpected bomb in the revenue stream of college athletic departments. One which may take years from which to recover. Attendance was already dropping pre-covid. Now, there are going to be many fans who either (a) don't return out of fear of getting sick (covid or one of the many "variants" that are going to continued to be touted as the next cataclysmic virus for years)_and/or (b) were forced to stay away in 2020 and, as such, have realized it may not be such a "necessity" to spend the time and money to attend games in person.

At most major universities donations and ticket sales still make up the largest portion of revenue. So potentially losing a few thousand more fans isn't ideal to the bottom line because one thing is for CERTAIN.....

the demand to incur ever increasing expenses (facilities, amenities, coaches salaries, etc) isn't going to end. With that in mind, schools are going to continue to look for ways to generate the ever increasing money they need and the money they lost over the last 2 years.

If Community Coffee wants to pay LSU $4 million per year to have their logo slapped across the LSU jersey I don't see LSU turning it down. They may have in the past....but that time is coming to an end.

Plenty of athletes leave Nike buddy

LINK

4 years earlier they lost 6 more prominent athletes across the sports landscape and Simone Biles just left them a couple months ago.

I think that would still have to be approved by the NCAA and or the SEC when it comes to what's on the uniforms!!

The NHL has sponsor ads with logos on helmets. I agree it’s eventually coming to the colleges soon. $$$$$ ultimately wins out

But that would be a decision the school makes has nothing to do with NIL and the endorsements the players have.

Do you think Zion makes enough with his NBA contract to pay damages on a breach of contract with Nike? Considering his Nike endorsement involved a personal shoe and millions dollars more than he makes currently as a player?

Not quite sure how those bylaws are written, but I'd imagine as long as it wasn't something like "Marlboro", "Jack Daniels", or "OnlyFans", the NCAA/SEC would approve.

Plus, technically, SEC teams, including LSU, have had a corporate logo on their jerseys for YEARS (can you find it?)

No one really complained because that company made the jersey. But corporate sponsorship on the jersey wouldn't be an entirely new concept

Though your argument is naive and silly it only enforces my original point so thank you.

Maybe, like pro sorts, fans will lose interest.

Nike/Adidas/Under Armour would step in before any of other brand advertising happens.

Actually you will find manufacturers logos on uniforms at any level!! you will find the conference logo and the corporate sponsor of bowl games!! all approved and with uniformity. for teams to start adding private sponsors I think it will still have to meet the requirements of uniformity!! and I doubt that individual sponsors cannot force the team to wear their logo when they're not paying everyone!!

The sponsor would be paying to specifically put their logo on they uniform. It would be up to the school to decide to put a logo on the uniform and then take bids from companies then decide. It doesn’t matter if they pay each individual player as the uniform is a licensed entity of the university not the players so the university has final say on what is on it.

Again endorsements and athletes are not new. We don’t need to make up things that may happen you can just look at pro sports and see how player endorsements in team sports work.

I can see schools cashing in on this but I still think that it would have to be approved somewhere!! But that has nothing to do with Name image or likeness of the individual players and the school will make the money!!
