No 2022-23 NCAA Tournament (won't be in it anyway)
Fines
While Sean Miller didn't get any sanctions, the program did get minimal sanctions:
quote:
The Wildcats will lose one scholarship for the 2023-24 season, while for a 7-week period during the 2022-23 season they’ll be unable to communicate with recruits via phone or written messages. Additionally, the school will be issued a $5,000 fine, while all wins and titles from the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons will be vacated.
Of course, Arizona did fire Miller after the 2020-2021 season. The assistant coaches who had specific allegations alleged against them weren't so fortunate.
quote:
Former UA assistants Book Richardson and Mark Phelps were not as fortunate. They were hit with 10- and 2-year show cause penalties, respectively, which means neither can coach in college for those periods of time.
I think this is another example that the IARP (who is handling LSU's case) is choosing to punish the specific "wrongdoers" not the programs themselves. Particularly if the "wrongdoers" are no longer affiliated with the program.
NC State had several Level 1 violaitons...no postseason ban. Same for Arizona (though they "self-banned" when they probably weren't going to make the NCAAT anyway). I continue to feel the IARP won't punish McMahon and his players for Wade's "sins".
The 10 year show cause for Richardson though has to be worrisome for Wade. Richardson pled guilty to crimes in the DOJ case. Obviously Wade didn't have any criminal charges against him. But 10 years is a lot. It wouldn't shock me to see Wade get at least a 5 year show cause. Unlike Miller, who just got hit with a failure to monitor allegation, there are specific allegations against Wade.

Nothing will happen. Getting rid of Wade is all they wanted

I'm with you. It makes me want to SCREAM when I hear that assfLuck pricky v go after Wade like an attack dog, and then he waxes poetic about how great coach gay at Duke was, and how he did it the right way. The right way for coach gay was to have the infrastructure set up at puke that Wade DID NOT HAVE at lsu. Dale had it, but we lost it sometime after he left. Gay Bilas is every bit as hypocritical. His arse PLAYED for puke. He KNOWS how they make the sausage in Durham.

There's a paper trail that would choke a goat on how they paid Zion and his family - but everyone pretends nothing happened, even give K a farewell tour.

Did you see what happened to Kansas?
Just for the record, the Kansas thing isn't finished. With the IARP, you have to have a hearing which probably won't happen until after the season. I'm guessing KU won't find out their punishment until next fall at this point.
That being said, no sanctions for Sean Miller makes me think that the IARP isn't coming down as hard on schools as the NCAA would have and did (Oklahoma State).

Yeah, Dick was already schilling for them saying none of the players on last year's team were part of the allegation that included Self implicating himself via text message RE: Ayton.
They will say the self-imposed 4-game suspension where Self missed the first 4 will be enough, I have little doubt....and Dick will laud them for it.

Are you ok with LSU getting arse flucked and being forced to get rid of the best coach we've had since Dale by the talking heads and quite possibly the WEAK ASSED NCAA itself? For the EXACT SAME BULLSPIT all the top basketball schools do, and still crickets about them??? I'm not.

If you don't know already, learn about the Chris Duhon fiasco back in the late 90s and how he ended up "choosing" Duke over LSU.

quote:I will look into that as I don't know that story. I do know the Zion story as does everyone, but I didn't hear Dick carving out 5 minutes of the ACC Final Broadcast to give everyone the sordid details, like he did to LSU in that SEC final vs. Bama. Nor will you ever hear that in any setting.

Honest prediction on basketball sanctions?
Would there be any reason to lie?

Arizona and Kansas got left alone because they bring money and eyeballs to March Madness. They are bluebloods to basketball while LSU is not.
You don’t punish the cash cows. LSU is a blue blood in football. Kansas is not.

Wade leaving and the speculation of sanctions for several years now. Penalty already in force.

Are we expecting an announcement soon?

Looked into the Duhon thing - not nearly egregious as the Zion stuff, but they did give his mother a job in Durham that she was not fully qualified for and was not posted or advertised publicly, and was owned or run by a Duke basketball booster - and quickly gave her a $14000 raise within 4 months and while the salary was only $42000 a year - she and her son were driving around in a nice vehicles from jump - cars that would seem to be maybe beyond her means to afford both.
Nothing Dale didn't do all the time here, and as I said pales in comparison to the outrageous money funneled to Zion and his family, but certainly seems not in step with the pristine image Duke pretends to have.
And as I researched it you would see dozens of Duke fans posting comments pushing back and rationalizing it - another reason Dick, Pat and the gang wouldn't dare go after them on the Zion stuff. That fan base and powerful alumni would have come after them something fierce and they have neither the sack nor the want for that.
