I am ten years older, but Hokie Gajan and I were from the same community just north of the BR airport....never met him but we were both Brownsfield Bears and Baker Buffaloes....enjoyed him as a Tiger and a Saint.... and listening to Hokie on WWL ads up here in the MS hills, I knew who to call if my house needed raising or my garbage needed disposing... God Bless the entire Bobby Gajan family of Brownsfield.

I lived a block from Hokie around 1967 in Brownsfield I was a year older than him and we would all play tackle football in his backyard on Nimitz Street with his big brother Chipper and other kids. Hokie was always the youngest and smallest kid playing with us.
One time Hokie got knocked out cold for several seconds. We were all kind of freaking out wondering what we should do and then Hokie just woke up, jumped up and kept playing like nothing happened.
He was a tough son of a gun even back then!
RIP to a great man. Prayers to his family.

I knew Hokie's family well when I was a parishioner @ St. Isidore Catholic Church. His younger brother Alton was on the first 6th grade team I ever coached. I worked @ Exxon with brother Robert. Very sad to lose him. Prayers to his whole family.

I'll admit it...as a grown man, I shed tears upon the news...I'll miss his voice and his goodness...

Hokie was one of the first Tigers I remember cheering for and recognizing by name in Tiger Stadium. I pray for his family to have peace and solace. RIP, Mr. Gajan.

I'm too young to have seen Hokie Gajan play but I enjoyed listening to him call Saints games. It sounds like he was a very good MAN and loved by everyone.

RIP Hokie

Will never forget coming out of church one day and a grown-up Alton walked up to me and says "Hey Coach, look what I've got". It was his first-born. Man, did I feel old.

Alton is my father in law

And now I feel even older.

All I know is, it's going to be so weird listening to Saints broadcasts and not hearing Hokie... I'm just realizing how different it's gonna sound
