CJJ acknowledges that he is a hitting coach. My only question is it’s one thing that the portal players are not being successful with his assistance but I’m trying to figure out why our existing players who have been around a while are also struggling. I just believe it would be in his best interest to hire a designated hitting Coach and that way he can focus on the overall management of a team. There’s no question he is one of the best elite coaches in college baseball.

Who is working with the team on fielding fundamentals? Can Jay take a break from the batting cages to help there?

Curiel has been pretty damn good. Milam has shown this is who is he is. Every year he has gone through periods of time in which he’s slumping and periods of time in which he is red hot. Arambide doesn’t even have a full season’s worth of AB’s at the college level.

I think ppl are too quick to blame coaches, are they coaching Brown differently than anyone else ? I doubt it, players deserve the credit and also deserve the blame when the coach has proven track record like this staff does!

Every season is different especially now. Team consistency at the plate takes time. For the last 2-3 weeks we are seeing one good at bat and 2-3 bad ones. Most of the problem comes from timing the pitch up. The difference, off the bat, between a pop up, a weakish ground ball, and a line drive that finds grass is tiny. If we can improve to one good and one bad or even 3/3 we will win.

Yeah, Jay said as much during his press conference, need 3-4 quality AB’s in a row, walk and hit doubles

Anyone downvoting you for this statement either has never played baseball or doesn't remember how terrible they were at some point in their baseball playing.

A few quotes from folks who probably understood baseball better than probably everyone here.

"There are two types of baseball players. Those who have been humbled by the game and those who are going to be humbled by the game." — Andy McKay

"I'm very modest. I know that baseball is a very humbling game." — David Wright
.
"Baseball is a humbling game... you can have a good week and a terrible month." — Derek Jeter

"Baseball is the only field of endeavor where a man can succeed three times out of ten and be considered a good performer." — Ted Williams.

But is Milam actually slumping right now or is he just having really shitty luck? Because Milam has actually been blistering the baseball lately but every damn thing he hits goes right to a defender for an out. It’s annoying as hell. It’s not like Milam is up there striking out every other at bat like half of these guys.

We win both sec series if we didn't have all the errors and passed balls defensively. We don’t have a sec level 2nd or 3rd baseman on this team. I do think Arambide will be a good catcher before he leaves.

Was this a concern for you when the team was raking last couple of years while winning natty's?

I mean we are 42% of the way through the season and he is hitting .237. At this point you are what your numbers say you are. I think his numbers will improve because that’s what has happened in the past. But as of now, the results say that he is in a slump.

And if you can't do that, you won't go far.

Baseball is hard

Hitting a baseball is extremely hard

However, I can’t recall another player present / past that is constantly in more 0-2 / 1-2 counts like Curiel.

Pitching coach, can he switch gears. He’s got some transmission issues right now.
