High ceiling for this LSU team

Let’s be honest here. And I mean truly honest. You think the 2020-2021 teams make that 99 yard drive with 1 second left?
I don’t.
The first half was an absolute debacle. Obviously. But that first half was what our week zero should have been.
All of a sudden, we start catching up. We DO catch up. And then when crunch time hits we see our biggest issues.
The team rallied. Without their best DL, amidst a frickton of self inflicted wounds and terrible O line play.
Real shite. The real LSU will be on display come SEC play.
I’m giving Boutte a pass here. We’ve all been to that point where it feels like you can’t do shite. Dude came off an injury and played nervous .
But you know BK crawled into his arse about it.
We’ll forget all about FSU while we beat State by 20.
I don’t.

I'm still optimistic, but I think it will be another year or so until we're back where we need to be.

That's a bold statement. Haven't seen anything so far that suggests we beat any SEC team by 20.

In the last game of the 2021 regular season the team went 85 yards in 1:38 to beat A&M.

sorry OP, we're going to lose a lot of conference games this year.

I felt like FSU was a must-win game to propel this team forward.
I look at the loss as a great learning experience now, and not a back breaker.
We obviously need to work out some kinks against Southern.
The next pivotal point is Miss St. We need to win that to propel this team forward.

I like the way ur thinking and I agree 100%. We have to get rid of a few remaining cancers from the previous mess, maybe a Coach or two not producing quality on the field. Once we have 100% buy in from the players and are getting 100% effort out of them we’ll be on our way to another championship. This will take three to four years to pull off. Believe in the process Coach Kelly is installing at LSU. We have great facilities, analytics, nutritional staff, training staff, AD, The Governor and so many other positive factors in Baton Rouge. Let’s all of us diehard fans enjoy the ride in spite of a few disappointments along the way. We can be civil in spite of the ridicule from others outside the family. Let’s be 100% for these youngsters that try their best to represent their home state with pride.
We owe our loyalty to these players. Most of these players could have gone anywhere but stayed in their home state to play football for the glory that comes with respectfully representing family, community, and state. Through hurricanes, floods, and other natural disasters the people of Louisiana prevail in the worst of circumstances. Let us be bigger people and let Coach Kelly and his chosen coaching staff teach our young men about the right way to be men of great character in spite of injury, insult and bad breaks.

Every SEC game will be a struggle this year.

If we can establish tempo and clean up the special teams play then I agree. However, we are going to struggle against athletic front 7’s until we can establish a real running game.

We're going to be fine, but this is not the year.
I think Kelly knows that, just watching the game. He wasn't really even pissed, just sorta laughed and said he didn't think we could play any worse/I don't know, maybe we could.
That's not the tone of a guy who was expecting greatness, was planning on playing for a title this year. That's the tone of a guy who expected struggles, and wants to see steps being made to get better.
