Shortess did say he will remain with the program so that's good news. Sharp shooter!

Exactly. Gray is too talented to sit. And it may save TQ within the program.
I agree with this as well. And, TQ has legit upside.

Hickey frustrated me more than he excited me. His spurts were great but there were too many times this past season he looked disinterested. Even on the press when he would be playing the read he was often late on it and would wildly fly by the defender leading to easy goals.
I'm not going to miss the end the half and end the shot dribble and pull up 3. This past season felt like a step back for him. He just didn't provide the same spark he had year before when we were undermanned. Good luck to him but i'm not heart broken about this

Anthony Hickey Sr., the guard’s father, told The Advocate his son was informed last week that the program does not intend to renew his scholarship. The rising senior had his run-ins with coach Johnny Jones over the past two seasons, largely over missed classes and study hall periods.

Multiple sources told The Advocate recently that Hammink and freshman guard Tim Quarterman were the two likely players to leave, but that the coaching staff met with Quarterman and persuaded him to stay in the fold.

Honestly, this talk and thought has given me some pretty excited hope for this season. Don't give up on the Tigers. Gonna be an exciting year.

He acts like this is an insult, but it shows that he's never played the game if he thinks pitchers don't get a little upset when a booted ball is ruled a hit instead of an error. He's taking one of about 4 reasons I gave last night and is trying to make it sound like I stated that's the only reason.
I don't want to hijack, but please do yourself a favor and stop making the case that the official scorer has anything to do with the turmoil on the baseball team.

LSU is better without hickey. I don't get the infatuation with these midget guards who are black holes
I kinda agree. I read the news, it startled me, but my first reaction was "we will be okay"
Hickey didn't have his heart in it last year. His freshmen year when he had to carry the team on his back to score every game, he played like it. We put some weapons around him, and he was uninterested half the time.
Gotta think next year's team will still be much better than this year. Especially if Gray is the next coming of Marcus Thorton.

Wow. LSU ran Hickey out to keep Quarterman.

we pretty much posted the exact thing at the same time.

Well at least we won't be able to use the losing with TJ's players excuse anymore for Jones. It's nut up or shut up time.

Well, cJJ has been heavily criticized for not using his bench. Problem solved: you can't use what you don't have!

100%.
I would rather have kept Q for 3 than Hickey for 1. Hickey just never fully bought in to Jones. Jones expects his players to succeed in the classroom and on the court and it seemed Hickey didn't care about about the former.

I'll volunteer! My basketball days are behind me and I don't want to go to class...but the idea of travelling and hanging out with a bunch of coeds sounds pretty nice to me.

Not really.
We didn't use our bench last year because they weren't ready yet.
Hammink was never going to play very much.
Morgan was injured and we were hoping best case to have him back for January, but that also means he loses all development time over the offseason.
Hickey was the only one that is a "loss" and as we have discussed, he wasn't giving himself to the program in a way that Jones thought was sufficient. His scholarship was dropped for that reason.
