However there are other hospital systems in the area who would be happy to partner with LSU in more significant ways if allowed.

Are there? What other hospital systems operate in Baton Rouge? BRG, Woman’s, Ochsner.. who am I missing?

Of those, the only one I could imagine being a more significant partner for LSU is Ochsner.. and their footprint in Baton Rouge isn’t nearly as big as FMOL’s. Though it was kind of funny to hear Verge accidentally refer to Kuiper as “Ochsner CEO.”

Are prospective candidates subjected to extensive psychological screening?

This guy should have 60% of the decision, and everyone else should split the other 40%. He is a huge donor, played for LSU, his son plays for LSU, he is very smart (President of Bollinger Shipyards), he knows football, and bleeds purple and gold.
Why haven't his 2 sons received any playing time on that god awful Offensive Line?
