Maybe someone like Speedy that used to do the Les Miles thread can keep tabs on something like this and do an update

I'll start with a few - note not all of these are broken records per say but impressive anyway

Passing:

Joe Burrow has the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 9th highest single game passing yardage games in program history

Joe Burrow stands alone as the only LSU QB to throw for 6 TDs in a game

He has thrown for 5 TDs twice, a feat only done once previously by Zach Mettenberger

He has thrown for 4 TDs twice, a feat only accomplished 9 times previously

Single Game Rushing:

LSU's 4 highest individual rushing feats have come under Orgeron's tenure. I put an asterisk next to the ones that happened while he was an interim in 2016 below

1. Guice - 285 vs TAMU*
2. Fournette - 284 VS Ole Miss*
3. Guice - Guice 276 vs. Ole Miss (2017)
4. Guice - Guice 252 vs. Arkansas*

Guice also is tied for 2nd with 4 rushing TDs in a single game vs. TAMU in 2016*. He is tied with 6 other tiger greats. (Kevin Faulk stands alone on the list with a 5 TD performance against Kentucky in 1997)

Footnote - Burrow is also tied for most rushing TDs by a QB in a single game (TAMU last year)

Receiving:

Yardage: Surprisingly (or not surprisingly considering how much we spread it around this year) the only person on this list would be Chase who is 4th all time in single season receiving yards with 229 vs Vanderbilt.

TDs - Chase is also tied for 2nd all time in single game receiving TDs with 4 against Vanderbilt.

Tied for 5th with many other receivers Marshall and Jefferson have both had 3 TD games.

Team records - I'll probably need some help compiling this. Obviously we're on pace to shatter the single season scoring average and many of these things will change throughout the season.

Just thought it was interesting because I doubt ANYONE would have thought a thread like this would exist when he was hired. Even his most ardent supporters.

Are we just going to pretend that most of this didn’t come against our cupcake rentawins...and A&M who had the world’s worst rushing defense that year?

Are you just going to pretend that we never played cupcakes before?

Great post.

I hated the hire.

But he deserves the credit for the success of this team.

Is Texas on the road a rent a win?

Joe's highest passing total came against Texas, and his highest TD total came against an SEC team.

Now literally go frick yourself in the corner and shut your cocksucker.

Records are great and all but don't mean a whole lot without some hardware to go with it. Great start so far. Let's hope it leads to the playoffs.

I’m sure you jest, but I think that Troy loss probably motivated more changes, and in a hurry.

Some losses are lessons.

It might also be worth noting that through 5 games Burrow has more yards and more TDs than every Heisman winning QB since 2004 (I'm picking this as a stopping point because I'm getting this from an article I just read)

Additionally the only QB from that list with a higher passer rating through those 5 games was Kyler Murray from last year who broke the all time record previously set by Mayfield the year prior (yes Burrow is on pace to edge out Mayfield in that department)

Correct, there's nothing more than I'd like O to win the championship, I'm all in.

Name the teams Barry Sanders played in 1987 when he rushed for a billion yards. I am sure he NEVER played any cupcakes.

This is just a blatant prop up O thread.

Pretty sure the come back loss to TN against Calusen QB in 2005, to me was 100x more of a slap in the face than Troy!

Actually the Wisconsin loss that ended the Stone Age era offensive approach pretty much sucked worse than Troy Too!

Not really

I just thought it was interesting because these things are pretty counter intuitive. I don't think anyone thought we would be plastering people all over the offensive record books with coach O when he was initially hired or even during his interim stint. It's rather shocking if anything.

I've definitely been impressed.

The one caveat I have is the offenses have changed all around college football.

No one is talking about records broken from last season or 2017. I know some of those rushing records came in 16, but they broke the records from the year prior. With pass happy offenses, I wonder if those rushing records will be touched again soon.

I guess what I'm saying is, these offensive passing records will be broken, considering Les' offenses were some of the best in program history. Our single season passing td record is at 28, that came under Saban and Les. Burrow will crush that.
