By signed I mean signing and faxing in his papers. He's going into a hat ceremony. It's not like Miles strolled into the office and at 7:05 am he's got a fax coming in from Fowler.

What committed recruit goes into a hat ceremony and sticks with that team?

I just don't really get where you are coming form. Plenty of kids stick to their commitments. In fact, the vast majority of them do.

I'm trying to find the dishonest part....

Typically, when a Coach wants to player to be a part of his team, he will ask that player to commit to being a player on the team. Are you seriously saying you don't see any dishonesty whatsoever when the Texas coach specifically tells a player "not to commit to the Longhorns" when in actuality he fully intends for that player to be a Longhorn?

You're telling me that the LSU coaching staff was 100% confident from a mere verbal commitment from a kid who committed over 6 months or so ago and still hasn't signed?

Got it, you have no idea how college football recruiting works.

You have to be trolling. If not somebody has a lot of explaining to do to you.

Why commit and then go through a hat ceremony? To reaffirm your commitment?

There isn't any sense explaining this to you because you're being stupid on purpose.

He visited Texas on Jan. 15 and didn't de-commit. He visted LSU on Jan. 22 and told them he was all in. He had a signing ceremony on NSD which happens all the time. The day before there were rumblings that he was going to pick Texas. LSU's staff said he hadn't talked to him in a week. From that timeline, you apparently deduce that LSU was stupid because the kid who committed to them hadn't signed, even though NSD is the first day he could sign. Got it. This has been a very productive discussion. Now I know that I don't need to discuss this with you any more.

He told recruits to wait until NSD to commit. To bring excitement and energy to the program. To be the talk of the town. Nothing of that is dishonest. He never told recruits to go out and commit to other schools and then pick Texas on NSD. Fowler was the ONLY recruit that was verbally committed to another school on NSD. The other recruits mentioned in the article decommitted weeks ago. Their status, at the time, was uncommitted.

What's Strong going to do with Fowler - a 4 start play 10 minutes away from the football stadium. Not continue to recruit him because he gave a verbal to LSU? Fowler should have decommitted. Plain and simple. If he was having that much doubt, that falls on him.

Ditto. LSU has one of the more volatile, woe is me fanbases in the country. This thread proves it.

Yes. Plenty of kids do it.

Several other kids did it this year while sticking with LSU.

I know I would be very uncomfortable not telling the school I was committed to for so long. A school that spent so much time and resources on me.

As a person I would still have respect for those that supported me. Just isn't right for them to find out live on NSD when I never once indicated to them I was even wavering.. let alone decided on another school.

Oh well.

Since you don't understand recruiting, you really don't have a concept of what signing day would be like for coaches (and players getting a lot of offers pulled) if everyone did this.

What?

Admitting that it is a shitty thing to do is "woe is me" now? And yes, if it went down like most think, it is most certainly more on Fowler and his family.

Yea I agree with you although I think they are getting a lot of good players in place on the defensive side of the ball. If they can build good depth on the offensive side then watch out. It's funny Strong let those players go for integrity issues then pulls some shite like this though.

100% it's on Fowler and the parents as well but telling kids not to announce because your scared other programs will try to say you sucked last year and pull you away is a crock of shite and it just makes it seem like he did some shady stuff so I blame him as well.

In his senior season and Texas' best record is 7 & 6 they will both deserve each other.
