The problem with RP was not only that he was booted, but he was so highly rated coming in that we couldn't get a QB the following year. I don't have a problem with a new QB every year as long as the one waiting in the wings has had time to learn the ropes (see Flynn). In this case, RP was supposed to be our QB as a junior last year and a senior this year. The minute he left we were screwed... We'll be back to the normal progression next year.

Saban is held accountable for what Burriss did 10 years after he recruited him? The only reason Burriss went to jail was because he had a permit to carry the gun in NJ but not NY. As far as we know, he wasn't out looking for trouble.

Still doesn't eliminate the problem of 3 qb's in 3 years.

Miles got Perrilloux in 2005 and then didn't go after a QB in 2006. I'm sure Miles was informed about Perrilloux' character beforehand but still elected to offer Perrilloux. Not only did he offer him but the next year he failed to get a QB just in case Perrilloux didn't work out.

Not getting a QB in 2006 set us back at that position just like DT is going to do. We didn't get any DT in 2008 and it is starting to show and will be more obvious next year.

This all goes back to the Head Man - Les Miles!

Accountable...no. But I could have listed additional guys that Saban made an attaempt to "fix" because they were great players. Who was that linebacker from Florida that Saban tried to bring in that was a head case and ended up driving a car into a house or something?

Point is, while Saban DID recruit high character guys, he didn't always. Suggesting that Saban passed on Perriloux is silly. Parriloux wanted no part of LSU while Saban was here. In hindsight that would have been fine. But what if Miles would have not been able to flip him form Texas? His first impression on LSU fans already looking to hate him for not being Nick would have been he was UNABLE to sign one of Louisiana's biggest reuits ever. It wouldn't have mattered if Perriloux would have flaked out at Texas...

Now I believe I read this on the rant somewhere in the past, but I think someone wrote on here once that Skyler Green was telling Saban not to bother with RP. I don't know about this linebacker you speak of. That's crazy if true. I'm not even saying Saban didn't recruit thugs, but the Plaxico thing was a bit of a stretch IMO. And this may be due to a larger saturation of media coverage in college football, but it seems like Les has had to dismiss players from the team who would really be filling the position gaps we are having right now.

Give him a chance. I want to see how our team responds to a lose against auburn first.

the frustrating part is, a good amount of people want a offense that neither miles or crowton know how to do or want.

I'm very much willing to wait till Auburn and beyond. The whole year has to play out before I will be banging my drum (with confidence) one way or the other. I just wanted to say that part of the HC job includes program management which incorporates all the decision making that lead to our current OL and QB woes. That stops at Miles' feet.

As far as offenses go, I'll just take one that scores more points than our oponents. Spread, Option, Power-I, I could give a damn. If Miles allows Crowton to install something the he/they do not whole heartedly believe in and/or understand, that lies at Miles' feet too. Just win baby.

Remind me again...what blue chip QB did Nick Saban bring in in the 2004 class? He'd have been a true senior last year, or a RS senior this year. We could have used that guy...

ETA: My math was incorrect. Had we brought in a QB in 2004 he'd have been a true senior in 2007 or a RS senior in 2008. given we had Russell and Flynn, whoever it would have been they'd have shirted and would have been a 5th year guy last season. But this goes to prove the point...what blue ship QB would have walked into that situation knowing there was a good shot they would not see the field until they were a RS senior? Our glut of talent under center made it HARD for both staffs to recruit big name QB's for a while...and when RP left it created a void.

Not seeing what Sky would have known about RP. Sky was from Higgins on the westbank near Marrero. Perriloux was from East St. John. That ain't exactly in the same neighborhood. If you had told me a River Parish guy had said something, then that would have been one thing...

Gawlllldang...can we quit the RP stuff? Great teams don't take two years ....well it will be three by the time one develops..

....to recruit and develop a QB. Any position player for that matter. If you can't have someone in the wings you are not a great team, period. THAT is the job of a coaching staff....period.

The only reason the RP boot hurt as it did is because somewhere along the line...probably multiple times the ball was dropped by coaching staff(s)

Plaxico Burress had an expired concealed carry (CCW) license in Florida.. And nothing else...

Dude is an idiot.. He needed to go to Jail. Dude has broken so many laws over the years and gotten off so many times he was due for one...

The BUCK stops with Les Miles (and predecessor).
