Come'on y'all.... not one single mention yet of @ToddWalker12?

This place is falling apart.

Deuces mentioned Todd Butler, which is the name I just saw mentioned on Twitter as well and matches all the things Moscona said:
quote:

Not currently a college coach

Butler is currently the Associate AD at McNeese.
quote:

has deep SEC ties

Has been an assistant coach/hitting coach/RC at Bama 2x, Arkansas, and Missouri.
quote:

is a familiar name locally

Born and raised in Louisiana (Alexandria) and played his first 2 years of college ball at McNeese in the 80’s. Was also HC at McNeese in early 2000’s

He’s supposedly a good recruiter and hitting coach, which he would just be an asst in that area here. But he is getting long in the tooth (57) and I’m curious how he would have gotten on Johnson’s radar.

Not saying he is for sure the guy Moscona mentioned; but he fits the described profile to a T.

Coach Johnson mentioned him at press conference and few other times.

He also called him a Mainieri era player; so safe to say he doesn’t have too close a relationship or familiarity with Theriot.

Interesting name

Wouldn’t exactly match the wow factor Kendall has been selling, but he could be just talking about candidates. And Moscona mentioned this person as just being interviewed. Not exactly that he was the front runner right?

That's like if the other 20 people turned you down, can do better!

Good to hear you say that. I kind of figured he’d be someone this place would melt over.

I honestly wasn’t familiar with the name; so I had to look him up and quickly realized he fit exactly what Moscona was describing.

I’ve never heard of Butler but “familiar” is a relative term

Disagreement with Beiser over how early to start recruiting and offering guys. Butler was trying to keep up with what’s become normal, Beiser wanted to wait to offer guys later.

Butler brought some good talent to Wichita State when he was the HC, especially hitters. There were a bunch of guys that transferred out after he left that did very well other places. He also had some high round picks like Grayson Jenista.

From what I understand he’s also just a good dude.

ETA: him getting fired by that moron Beiser is a positive in my opinion.

Okay, thanks for the insight, sounds promising. But he is older.

Just that he could familiar locally, or in baseball circles, and I could not know who he is

Why did he settle as AD of Mcneese then? If he was promising he should've been coaching at other places after Mizzou.

From the profile I read he turns 55 this month. That's not too bad.

If he wants to come, all the better!

Butler is who people were talking about. He wouldn’t be a bad hire at all according to the people I know that know him.

His name was also tied to other coaching prospects at LSU.

Not many programs can pay a third assistant, and most only get paid by baseball camps, COVID happened and many programs were wary on hiring a third assistant at the time because school funds were low from what I read

He's well traveled, for sure. Has worn many hats all over the country since the early 90s.
