Leave it like it is but add a rule that if you lose to a team that is ranked ahead of you, and that team makes the final 4, you are removed from consideration and the next ranked team jumps you.

Examples: 1) Alabama finishes 4th, but lost to LSU who finishes 1st, then they are out.

2) Georgia beats LSU in SECCG and finishes 3rd, and LSU finishes 4th, GA goes and LSU is removed from consideration.

At least this way games will have meaning.

That wouldn't make the games have anymore meaning. Really horrible idea TBH

LSU vs. Alabama would have been for all the marbles. So would LSU Ga assuming they make championship. You are wrong.

This just punishes the top teams that have to play each other. It's already hard enough in the SEC without totally eliminating each other. It would give weaker conferences a further advantage.

Make it so you have to win your conference to get in, period. Best 4 conference champions.

Been saying this for a while. Head to head has to count when we only have 4 spots up for grabs.

Possibility using this year’s schedule:

Oregon beats Auburn week 1 and goes undefeated for the season.

Auburn goes on to win the SEC beating LSU and Bama along the way...

SEC champ is excluded from the playoffs? Doesn’t seem like much of an improvement.

You disallow any teams who didn’t get a conference championship invite in the playoffs. Simple.

Thoughts?

aa
Only if they lose. No mulligans! Best 4 teams, 1 from different conferencs will make it 99.9 percent of the time.

The very first and most obvious thing is, why in the hell would you punish the teams for losing to the best teams in the country? You are going to allow a team that loses to a shitty team that might not even be ranked in with your system, but potentially eliminate a team that lost to the number one team in the country by a FG.

It was just an absolutely retarded idea.

So in this scenario Alabama gets to be considered again since LSU is arbitrarily removed from consideration?

So they essentially back door their way in by dodging Georgia?

Aurburn would be ranked higher than Oregon....so they would go. It works.

Treat every game in the regular season as a playoff game, which it is essentially and the way it was always until the BCS.

They would need to beat GA for natty. Or the team that just beat GA.

One loss Auburn is not ranked ahead of undefeated Oregon, if the one loss is to Oregon.

You are correct, Auburn would not get a mulligan. They had their chance and blew it.
