This all boils down to the SEC wanting LSU to go on the record that former NFL players will not be added to the roster and the 2 open roster spots will be filled by "amateur" players only. LSU has not violated any SEC rules (despite all of the legal mumbo jumbo), but they are asking the Court for a Declaratory Judgment that authorizes the SEC to remove LSU from the conference. That's not going to happen.

institutional control
This isn't a tenable position either. Lack of institutional control is a conclusion that follows investigation/audit into internal controls. If no such investigation has occurred, it has no merit. His commentary during the halftime interview is not evidence of any violation of a standing SEC rule, and therefore isn't evidence of internal control violations.

You can get everything from Courtistener.

I was under the impression that LSU was one of many schools attempting to get players from the NFL that didn't make NFL squads. Is that not true,, is LSU the only school....what about the 40+ players that I read that were trying to return to some school.
IF LSU doesn't play any of these 'NFL' players, then what has LSU done other than trying to make our roster as good as possible under the rules. LSU has played no player.....Sankey can claim victory and we move on. What is the SEC actually trying to prove here?
If this persist, I hope the SEC is sued to obilivion and we are the top Independent, playoff bound every year Independent in America.

Are any of those players on the roster??
That’s why they just amended their complaint which LSU should absolutely jump on. It demonstrates the pattern of the SEC mincing words to suit its whims rather than trying to make sure each member institution is being treated equally. It lends credence to Sankey’s testimony that he doesn’t know NCAA rules nor can he define “professional” while under oath. If the commissioner can’t define the bylaws, how can he enforce them.
And Chambliss does matter because it demonstrates that the SEC is willing to defer to a district court. He is still ineligible per NCAA rules—rules that the SEC complies with. If he’s ineligible with the NCAA, he’s ineligible with the SEC.

I would think that to show lack of institutional control you would have to show rules broken at least. Everything LSU did was in public and they were in communications with the league about whether they could practice, etc. they are not the only schools to recruit said kids. I am sure we would be happy to bring the agents of some of these "professionals" to give you call logs of what other SEC schools were recruiting them. Also, the judge made it clear to the commissioner that you are apparently trying to selectively punish and follow which court orders you want which is not right. They also, got Sankey to admit that according to the NCAA 5 for 5 ruling that these guys should be eligible. Really don't see how this could go anywhere.

Chambliss is a non-starter. He never went pro. His fight was with the NCAA over a medical redshirt for a sixth year — a Mississippi judge ruled he clearly met the criteria for a medical redshirt and that the NCAA ignored medical evidence in denying his waiver. That's an eligibility-clock dispute, not a professionalism-rule dispute. The SEC's rule is about signing a contract or appearing on a pro roster; Chambliss did neither. LSU fans keep raising it, but even Ole Miss's own media had to explain the difference to Landry.
ESPN
Doesn't matter...shows complete inconsistency in policies and not fighting another school playing a player deemed ineligible by the SEC's governing entity. The bottom line is that Ole Miss is playing a player ruled ineligible by the NCAA/SEC. A player is either eligible or ineligible. The reasons why don't really matter or make it better or worse. However, the court has the final say and Chambliss won in court.
The NCAA/SEC ruled these 5 in 5 players as ineligible too. The court has currently ruled in favor of the players here too, yet they are threatening expulsion of one of the founding members of the SEC when LSU hasn't even rostered the players in question, much less played them. Hmmm....

The SEC now argues in federal court that the First Amendment gives it the right of expressive association—including the right to disassociate from LSU. It contends that expelling LSU would be an exercise of the conference’s membership authority, not a “penalty” prohibited by the Louisiana court order.
Ok...?? and ESPN is cool with this?
