Too bad LSU couldn't play Missouri in a bowl. That would be interesting.

Your not mentioning one important thing. As they are listed for example. When you say a bowl gets the SEC 5 in the chicken bowl its not that simple. Nothing binds the bowl to taking the 5th SEC school. If the bowl finds the 6th or any lower team more atractive for them, for any reason they can invite that team. of course none of this matters if the SEC goes to bat for certain schools and works backdoor deals for them and fricks LSU in the process like last year then its all good.

The Cotton Bowl is dreaming of a Baylor/LSU matchup. But I think an 11-1 Baylor team is a LOCK for an at-large BCS bid. Possible Sugar Bowl against AU.

So you're saying Georgia would still be the choice before LSU? Dumbass. There is no "tiebreaker" with "choices".
Posted on 11/24/13 at 2:29 pm to LSURussian
Gator or Music City would be a nice change of pace. I'm sure bowls don't want the same teams all the time. And LSU fans don't want Atlanta and Dallas all the time.

Why don't you read through the thread before you resort to juvenile name calling?

I sure don't want to go to Dallas again. And enough of the Chicken Bowl for a while. I'd like a change of scenery.

Even so, I don't see the Cotton Bowl passing on Auburn or Missouri (or even Spurrier and South Carolina because the SC fans travel VERY well for bowl games) just to get LSU whose fans might have a little Dallas fatigue having played there 3 times in the past 4 seasons.
You are failing to account for the fact that Auburn most likely will be long gone, and then there is Cap 1 and Outback.
Dallas is a long long way from south carolina. Theoretically I can see the switch with us and USC outback and cotton, but it never never happens. Mizzou is our biggest and semi legitimate threat but IMO the ONLY way that happens is if the SEC does not get 2 BCS bowl bids which would essentially means Bama in the CG and the sugar passes on an SEC team (highly unlikely) OR Bama loses to auburn and doesnt get picked as an at large (even more unlikely)
Its not that we are saying the cotton is dying to have us, its that there are no other legitimate options.

You're right. I used a poor choice of words, and, as you say, technically incorrect. It's not 'seeds' but the order which bowls get to choose.

So what you are saying is these arent the "facts" about the SEC's bowl tie-ins & LSU's bowl chances. Ok.

I'd go to Tampa, that'd be a nice trip.
Dallas or Atlanta I'm watching on tv

This post is full of misinformation.
The bowl selection order:
1. BCS National Championship
2. Sugar Bowl
3. Other BCS Bowls
4. Capital One Bowl
5a. Cotton Bowl
5b. Outback Bowl
7. Chick-Fil-A Bowl
8. Gator Bowl
9. Music City Bowl
10. Liberty Bowl
The Bowls can pick whoever they want from the SEC in this order, they are not obligated to pick according to standings.
Most notably, the Cotton Bowl rarely ever picks SEC East teams -- the last time they did was in 2005, when they picked 9-3, Eastern champ Tennessee (they would have taken LSU, but the Capital One Bowl took us over UT). Likewise the Outback rarely ever picks West teams.
So let's look...
BCS Championship: Alabama or bust, could possibly take 12-1 Auburn if something crazy happens.
Other BCS: Alabama (if not BCSCG), one of Auburn, Missouri or South Carolina.
Capital One: Will probably take Missouri if still available. If Missouri isn't available, I think they end up with South Carolina (after working with the Outback Bowl to prevent them being effectively forced to take USC again).
Outback: Will take South Carolina or Missouri if available; will probably take Georgia otherwise.
Cotton: Will take either Auburn or LSU.
Chick-Fil-A: Will take the best team available, and will probably try not to take LSU if possible.
So let's look at the possibilities...
A) If Missouri is the second BCS team for the SEC
Auburn or South Carolina go to the Capital One Bowl. If it's Auburn, LSU will go to the Cotton Bowl. If it's South Carolina, LSU will go to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.
B) If Auburn is the second BCS team for the SEC
Missouri or South Carolina go to the Capital One Bowl, the other goes to the Outback Bowl, LSU goes to the Cotton Bowl.
C) If South Carolina is the second BCS team for the SEC
Auburn or Missouri go to the Capital One Bowl. Again, it basically comes down to whether Auburn goes (Cotton for LSU) or not (Chick-Fil-A for LSU).
D) If there isn't a second BCS team for the SEC
It's highly likely that Missouri goes to the Capital One Bowl, Auburn to Cotton, LSU to Chick-Fil-A.
It's not "unrealistic" to think LSU goes to the Cotton Bowl. It's a very likely scenario.

I know the East-West thing with the outback but I gotta think that 9-3 healthy LSU team that destroyed TAMU is much more attractive than an 8-4 possibly 7-5 Murray less UGA team...I guess Vandy could end 8-4 as well, but still...its Vandy....
Honestly if we drop past the cotton and outback then I think we go to the gator bowl which would be better IMO. New Years day change of scenary and beat up on a crappy big 10 team.
Posted on 11/24/13 at 3:35 pm to LSURussian
When Georgia Tech pounds UGA Saturday, a 7-5 UGA team with no quarterback will go way below LSU in the bowl committee choices.

Truth. If that's the case LSU wouldn't have gone to a lower bowl than A&M last year. Or in 2005, going to a lesser bowl than two teams that we beat and had better records than.

I hear ya but we've done well in Dallas.
Against Mizzou would be awesome if unlikely.
Thanks for the bowl update.
