Hell, fan is short for fanatic

This is a common misconception. The term “fan” was coined by NY sports writers about followers if baseball, particularly the Knickerbockers, around the 1890’s. It is a shortened version of “fanciers” a common term at the time for people who liked, or took a fancy to, any activity.
Fanatic was an insult and a medical term used for people who broke with reality and needed institutionalization.

Just for the record.

Absolutely and it makes every play, drive, score and mistake that much more magnified and has people on edge. This type of team doesn't come around every year and it has people overreacting to every little thing.

I bet you find a pretty strong correlation between these quitters, never O’s and consistently nega tigers. They just can’t stand to be wrong. And they love to bitch and complain at the least bit of adversity, as they think it makes them look soooooo smart.

They should always be called out.

Let me see if I can do this right...

LSU fan base is the most spoiled,in the country....

According to fans.... LSU never gets calls for a turnover no matter how obvious it it.... the refs never call a penalty on LSU no matter how obvious it is.... and they need to win every game 55-0....

And they would STILL find something to both about....

That pretty much sums it up.....

There’s a reason chicken created the scoreboard. People say a lot of stupid crap during a game. What happens on the scoreboard should stay on the scoreboard.

Besides, win or lose, there is a ton of improvement to be made on defense. Sure, people overreacted in the way they expressed their concern.

All you have to do is read the SEC Rant, Peej. LSU's fanbase is no different than any other when it comes to wanting their team to win and overreacting to every play. People are emotionally invested in this stuff and tend to say dumb stuff about it just like the OP is doing here. It's all about the ridiculous love of the school and everyone is different.

The standard to which you hold the defense vs the offense in the past is quite amusing. Carry on clown.

Dude hates every LSU sports coach not named Ed. It's truly bizarre but funny to watch throughout the year. Lucky for him, his "Fire Wade" threads from back in the early stages of last season were whacked so he can't get reamed for it.

Nah, you'd be surprised how many of the hyper negative posts come from OG Orgeron supporters. They've got it out for Aranda. Many of them always have. They took that head coach in waiting stuff personal.

First I’ve heard that theory. That one just seems odd to me. But if so then that’s really moronic.

It is weird, no doubt. It's not more than a handful or so, but they're vocal. I don't know if it's jealousy or what, but their selective criticism of Aranda vs the offense in the past makes it very clear.

Yeah I stopped reading in game threads a long time ago.

On first and ten, a handoff to an RB only garners two yards, and someone will start a thread: What is Ensminger Thinking, and it’s only based on that one play.

Pure idiocy.

See y'all are adding this dramatic flair to it and trying to make this thing so complex. It's really simple. People are watching the game, get worked up, and say dumb shite. That's all it is. It's the reason Chicken made the score board.

But for somebody to sit there and take all of that personal, speaks more about that one person than the people that one person is calling out. Because most everybody else seem to get it, without taking it personal. We win the game, wake up the next morning, and we're all back to normal again.

The irony is that the OP is so worked up right now that he had to spend all that time digging through old posts to come up with names and comments. Then, as people are trying to tell him to chill, he's so busy name calling and posting gifs and you're a pussy, etc. So the very thing he's condemning, he's doing it himself. But for a different reason. "Do as I say, not as I do..."

with all this talent it MUST be coaching. Period ...

was my only post Saturday. The second half was one of the great halves of LSU football ever in Tiger Stadium. It was an epic win.

That said, Aranda was too slow to make adjustments. Alot of TD posters were prophets apparently as they were screaming for pressure and man to man throughout the first half and that's EXACTLY the adjustments that Coach O credited Aranda for making (AFTER they drove another 75 yards to start the second half). We can't be this slow to mix things up.

In close games, I turn it off and swear I’m going to bed about 5 times. And then turn it back on until I get freaked out again and turn it off. If I’m watching with other people I leave the room. My father in law is the same way. We aren’t allowed to watch big games together. I’m a woman, but I don’t think that matters. Some people are just more emotional than others. Some people vent the most negative things you could think of and then are just fine after the game. A few people might actually be a-holes and be truly hateful, bad fans. But I really do think there are just a few like that. Most of us have been watching a long time and care probably too much. We all deal with being a fan in different ways. I think it was pretty shitty to call out specific people for posting things on a “rant” board in the heat of the moment.

100%. No one fan is better than the other. One person's way of being a fan doesn't mean they love their team any more or less than someone else.

Eta: In my experience men are just as emotional as women about their sports if not more so.
