Herbie can count the population - he is playing to the west coast of the US vs maybe 30% of the south east (still gotta factor in the gump believers).

Not so fast LSU fans.....

USC will be back...
That team is loaded with a lot of youngsters that will return next year...To say that they wont be a very good team next year and beyond is an ignorant train of thought....Once kiffin is able to load that team up with elite talent, they will be a force in the world of college football....imo, if there is any team in the country that could hang with the best of the sec, it is USC..and most of you know that..

Herbie said the exact same BS after the game when LSU beat OSU in '07.

"LSU is the champion, but USC might be the best team out there" because the Trojans beat Illinois 49-17 in the Rose Bowl.

He championed USC in '03 & '07 when LSU won it all, so why wouldn't he ride their jock this year?

That's just fine and probable too. But if you can't see the difference between "USC will be back" and this 2 loss USC team that squeaked by Oregon, ND, and Stanford, could beat the best team in CF on a neutral site then there is no point in ever having a debate because that means in USC's worst years they are capable of beating anyone except the teams on their schedule and that's just dumb.

Kiffy won't be able to hold it together that long. The scholarship restrictions just kicked in this year and won't really start to bite until 2012 and 2013. USC can rope in some talent, but their lack of depth will be their downfall for at least the next three or four years. By that time he will have managed to frick it up somehow.

The USC Bandwagon got fueled up real good after that Oregon game. Now it's steady chugging down the road.

I've seen several people in U$C gear in stores & elsewhere in public since that game. Those bandwagoneers disappeared in this area after Washington ended its double-digit PAC 10 conference game losing streak vs. the Condoms in early '09.

I'm all for a home and home with USC. Just imagine how many trojans TM7 and Brad Wing can go through in a night!

Is this really a 6 page thread about something made up? No way Herbie really said this.

Can you imagine the reaction in these parts to back to back titles this season and next...with BCSCG wins over Alabama and USC?

Words can't describe the joy, man.

This year, the game would go pretty much like most of the games. It would be close for a half, then USC would wear down and LSU would score in a flurry. The game would not be in doubt at the start of the 4th.

They've become a really good team, but LSU is a great team. The final score wouldn't be very close.

It's their newest girlfriend...
Ms Oregon did not work
Ms Nicky Saban did not work either
Ms Notre Dame fizzled
Ms Ohio State got caught cheating
so it is now Ms USC.

...this is only pre-season arse kissing so as to position USC for next year.

The Nation wants an SEC killer. It does seem like ESPN is positioning USC to be that team. What other team has a 4-0 record against the SEC since 2000?

so its cool to shite all of the current national title competitors with "well if they weren't on probation and we had a playoff that allowed a 2 loss team, they'd lose to USC"? Seems like impartial journalism to me.

It's not disrespectful to LSU. There's like 37 million people in California. He needs ratings. What would you say in his place? If you'd just state the truth, whatever it is, then you wouldn't be in his position very long.

Sure it does. Preseason rankings are all about perception. The perception is that USC is a damn good team, with the talent and the pedigree to take on the best the SEC has to offer.

The truth is we're not deep enough to match LSU OR Bama right now, and won't be for 3 years. If we meet and beat either team in that span it would be nothing short of a miracle.

But who does't love miracles?

I don't really care about USC...I strongly dislike Kiffen and Coach O...they are questionable characters.. I know HS coaches that said they wouldn't let own son play for Coach O..

TIFWIW..

LSU might become the first team to reach 3 crystal balls... I think it's awesome and it would be the first that would be without blemish amonst CFB fans..

Huge game for LSU...Alabama doesn't deserve to be in the game, but is certainly capable of stealing the dreams of many LSU fans.
