Herbie said he thought we would be 3-0 if we just played a cover 1 and cover 3 the entire game both games. Pollack seemed to agree with him also. It sounds like he believes that most of the issues are a lack of understanding the defense. Hopefully simplifying things has a positive impact.

Then the guy we are paying millions and millions of dollars to run the defense should have recognized this when MSU had 300 yards

I am not the biggest fan of zone schemes that require you to keep everything in front of you and read and react as opposed to dictating the plays by pressure, man coverage and aggression. I like when the defense is playing fast and aggressive. I like blitzes and negative plays.

With that being said everyone and their mother knew we needed/should have played zone against Leach. It’s what Washington did for the past however many years and look at how that game went. Why, as soon as MSU was announced as our opening opponent, do you not start implementing that defense for that game?

Once you had your arse handed to you you tried to hurriedly implement some type of coverage over the span of 14 days and 10 practice days against a team you should have been able to man up against and blitz the crap out of in Missouri yet we proceeded to play drop zone that relies heavily on knowing your role, keeping everything in front of you, and having good coverage LB’s.

It’s like he played the wrong defense against the wrong opponents. This is what frustrates me.

That falls squarely on Bo. You HAVE to have at least an idea of what your players are capable of.

We aren't talking a blown assignment here or there, we are talking record setting passing yards. Epic failure that has to be fixed ASAP.

I think LSU would be 3 and 0 if they would have had a spring to implement the new DC defense and not the first 3 games.

I believe Lsu would be 2 an 1 if they would have gone under center at the 1 yard line and used a full back to plow the road for Price.

We are losing to teams that also didn't have time to prepare and are far less talented

Wouldn't matter. BP CAN'T adjust.

We saw this his last year here, when CFB offenses were still somewhat "basic".

I watched in awe as I sat in Tiger Stadium in November of 2007 while Arkansas ran what was literally a HS Jamboree offense. They ran the same two or three plays, without a real QB behind center, over and over and over again while they gashed us for over 500+ yards on the ground. This "wildcat" offense was a fad for about two weeks. Lesser DCs figured it out within a quarter and stopped it.

Why we brought this moron back is beyond me. CFB offenses have evolved so much since the Wildcat, and we thought BP could actually figure out ways to stop that? LOLOLOLOL

Joke is on us, AGAIN.

What about Arkansas -they have a completely new OC/DC and head coach -they had no spring

Bingo. EVERY team is in this situation.

We have WAY more talent. There is literally NO EXCUSE.

If LSU just had a "below average" defense, we would be 3-0. Instead, we have a historically bad defense, and are 1-2 against the easiest part of our schedule.

Hopefully there is only one direction to go at this point, but I have ZERO confidence BP can fix it.

People still harass Miles to this day for losing 2 games in his NC season. Both those losses were squarely on BP. Our offense, like this year, did more than enough to win both of those games.

Are you referring to the year we won a national championship and had one of the best defenses in college football? Yeah Bo was terrible that year.

We may have well been 3-0. Problem is it was against 3 of the 4 worst teams in the conference and may not matter going forward

I absolutely am.

Was our Defense good? Absolutely. We put many players in the NFL. We also had the most decorated FB at the time (Dorsey).

My point revolves around BP's ability. Offenses in 2007 weren't what they are today. I watched BP lose both our games that year, with Arkansas being the most glaring.

LSU's offense that year was good enough to be an unbeaten NC. Both losses were on BP, not to mention a couple of other games that saw a very mediocre Bama team and an Ole Miss team put up serious yardage.

Thank goodness LSU got crappy UT in the SECCG and WV couldn't win an blatantly rigged game that night. Otherwise, we would have been in the Sugar Bowl.

Arkansas was ranked 58th in returning production, LSU 127th. 127 was before they lost Chase....

Secondary coverage has anything to do with giving up 8 ypc?

Players being in the right spot and understanding the defense would help not give up 8 YPC

Why do these sports personalities never seem to criticize coaches and put it on the players?
