Completely disagree. Unless you've played at that level, you have no idea what type of mindset it takes. I would imagine most of the guys are nervous.

People will bitch about anything. If the players came out and were jumping in the crowd giving high fives and autographs people would complain their heads aren't in the game.

correct.....

Why do you even bother posting in any thread? You've never brought anything with any substance to the table and your italics shite is ridiculous. fricking band geeks, I swear to Christ.

god forbid they wear headphones, and the possibility the music might actually be turned on at a low volume is despicable.

Tell me that wouldn't get you jacked. You can hear the roar of fans over headphones. Should they stop and shake eveyone's hand before the game too and personally thank them for coming to the game?

clearly you didnt pick up my sarcasm

In my experience, from high school, to the professional level, I have never met a quality athlete that used any external motivation source before a competition. If anything, they use music to calm them down.

Its very taxing to let adrenaline flow and let emotions take hold. If you can conserve emotions a few days before a competition, things usually go better.

Im all for whatever it takes to make our boys beat their boys. You stupid hall monitors need something to gripe about.

agreed, but don't get me wrong I wasn't using the music as my only motivational tool. I was pumped for the games well before I had the tiem to put the music on but the music did seem to help a little in the adrenaline department and also as you sayd it is calming too

Is this why Miles shows no emotion on the sideline? maybe he should wear headphones too.

Have you ever watched the players walk down the hill? It's the exact same thing with more tiger fans. And guess what, they're serious as all hell and (gasp) wearing head phones. They get into their mindset for the game and I have no problem with it. I like seeing them in their own zone

You beat me to it but this is 100% accurate.

To the issue that this is their job, I couldn't agree more.

They have a scholarship to play football. Not to meet and greet someone who derives pleasure watching the game.

I know NO ONE paid my way through school. No loans, no money from parents, just me working after school and during summers.

This is not about you. If you had a talent that could fetch you a scholarship, you should have tried that.

I do beleive the players have a true gift from the largess of the alumni and the state.

School generates revenue based on their talent. In fact, an on going debate revolves around compensation for football players.

If they have sense, they take that seriously even if they never play a down for the Tigers.

I totaly agree with the headphones... i brought my son to his first LSU game . a home game and when they marched down the hill with the band all of them had head phones on. No emotions shown at all and even the coach looked like plastic man

Id rather the players be more about the game than the pregame. LSU Pregame is 4 us fans. Dont spend alot of energy cheering on alcohol fueled fans. Win the game . Focus on the game. Jeeez

You are a rational poster in this forum. Don't let my remarks deter you.

It's the OP's tone and the entitlement professed that skewed this whole debate. Some of the intermediate pages had people going off on tangents. This person called a morning show and the Wednesday night show to complain about the same. Should a fan who traveled to ATL for the game be offended because a player did not pay attention to him and was minding his own business. Athletes are often accused of behaving as if they are entitled. Now isn't the fan behaving as if he is entitled to something?
