he's probably not THAT great of a recruiter either. I'm not saying he's not good. I just think it gets over stated because he coaches at LSU. LSU recruiting goes back to Gerry Dinardo. Keep Louisiana kids in state and you're pretty loaded with talent consistently. Again, yes he's a top 10 recruiter, but the location and being the only relevant school in the state helps him out.
the inroads in which Les has recruited in Texas and Florida proves otherwise

He has done those things, yes. But by the standards we hold Miles to he hasn't done shite. Miles won the SEC twice, a natty once and played in two. Gave us 10 wins almost every year.
If LSU performed like Michigan we....well we do perform like Michigan. They ain't better than us.

I'm going to make a really bold statement and say...he's probably not THAT great of a recruiter either.
So...the guy with the longest run of success in the programs entire history can neither recruit NOR coach...that right?
I mean...ok I guess.
That is one lucky son of a bitch I guess...

I think Les gets credit for that but I think its the recruiters on the staff that pull the talent

well that is true with every staff
but give Les the credit for putting the staff together

So far Harbaugh has never one a championship at any level.

How is this a jab?
If I were Les Miles, and a pundit says, "He can't coach," and I've been a head coach for 16 years, how do you not consider it a jab?

So whats new! SOS wait till next year!

Thats unfair statement. He obviously can coach. He's not the OC or the DC anyway. Jimbo can coach a far superior talented team into a 40 point loss. Does that mean he can't coach? Have we underachieved? Maybe but maybe not. If you look at recruiting rankings, Alabama has 17 5 stars on their team right now! We have 5. Who has underachieved. Bama should win it every year. They are most talented and are suppose to have the best coach.

Dan Patrick made this statement minutes ago on his morning show, when speaking about having to compete in the recruiting world with Nick Saban, Les Miles and Jim Harbaugh.
Patrick gave credit to Saban and Harbaugh for having the ability to both recruit and win, and decided to take a jab at Miles.
I can't really disagree with him in terms of recruiting a Top 5 class but barely being able to finish in the Top 25
Everyone sees it except for the "Sunshine Pumpers" who support Miles.

It's like the national media hasn't psid attention to LSU football for the past few years. They all laugh at the dumb yokel Louisianans for wanting to fire Miles "cause he can't be Bama, well no one is beating Bama."
LSU has slipped to be on par with Ole Miss and is dangerously close to falling even with Tamu and Arkansas. The signs have been there for years.

if Miles truly couldn't coach, he wouldn't have had the longevity that he has had because it normally catches up with them really quick
I agree with this to a point...Miles has a come up with a football strategy that allows him to take advantage of athletic superiority, but lacks the imagination to compete with comparable talent. With the recruiting classes he has put together over time (albeit not every year), he has done well, if going to a near New Year's day bowl is your ambition.
