it may be one sided but I would say bama is the most important game to lsu fans. Sure some will say Ole Miss but I feel that rivalry has lost its luster since the early 80's. point being just b/c its not viewed the same nationwide as the OSU/Mich rivalry it is still important for an LSU coach to beat bama.

but miles supporters have dismissed our lack of success with excuses like "bama is a dynasty" "if we didn't have to play bama" blah blah blah. Well we do have to play them and under their hero bama has gone from the basement to the penthouse. LSU was the best program in the west when Saban was hired and in 2 years he took that spot from us.

I got 100 down votes when I said I'd rather Miles retire than Saban. Apparently I should want the best to quit so we can have a chance again .

I don't think it is excuses, it just the facts.

It does suck for Miles that he has to compete with the GOAT every year.

Yes it does. And its not his fault. But most fans could live with 9-3 or 10-2 if one of those losses wasn't to Bama every year.

Recruiting is one third of the coaching job and maybe the most important part, so saying he can recruit but can't coach doesn't make sense. He can recruit, but his ability to prepare his players and make game day adjustments is weak.

You think people would be less angry losing to Auburn? or A&M every year instead of Bama?

What board do you think you are on?

The SEC is strong because most of the programs are feeling pressure from boosters to keep up with the Jones.

If the Jones is not great the division will be average to below average therefore you are correct.

Changes for the betterment of LSU football and forcing a comfortable coach to change is actually (in an indirect way) accredited to Saban's success.

Outside of having Mett, J. Hill and 2 of the best wr the NFL has ever had (in first 2 years of their career) LSU has not competed with bama. The problem is the style of offense we have been running is not effective against bama. The one team we should be selling out to beat and we just keep trying to attack the strength of their defense. meanwhile teams like A&M and Ole Miss have shown how you attack the bama defense and we still refuse to adapt.

well that isn't true

we have played Bama tight several times when we probably should have been blown out

last 5 games...
21-0
21-17
38-17
20-13
30-16

we were clearly dominated in 3 of the games even though the score didn't reflect the level of dominance. The other 2 were at home. So our program has fallen to the level where you expect us to get blown out at home against bama?

Miles had a three year head start on Saban lsu was in way better shape than bama. Not only did he catch miles by year 3 but he had passed him up by then. That tells you he was living off of what was built here and couldn't improve or sustain our position. For all the miles fans who love to throw out stats and say he hasn't underachieved all you have to do is look at his record vs the spread. The spread is your teams expected performance and his record vs the spread along with where his teams finish compared to our pre season rankings are both horrible.
