Have you noticed that when we line up quickly, and run a check with me to the sidelines...

..that the play usually called results in a first down and/or serious positive yardage?

I mean almost every play we have ran this year has ended up a first down with serious yardage.

Idk but I have noticed checking with the sideline. What's that about?

Getting the signal from the booth to go with the play called or to check to another play. It comes from Ensminger/Brady after they see the defense.

They do it to see how the defense aligns to the formation and get the play call signaled in vs what they see.

They also line up and run CEH out wide and back in to see if a LB or DB goes with him to give the offense an idea if it’s man or zone.

Remember the meerkat offense and how much it sucked?

I notice that there's usually 17 seconds left on the play clock when Burrow checks. That's a big difference.

A far cry when Les couldn’t get one play call in inside of 40 secs on the reg.

And fools still holler "hurry and snap it, don't check in with coach" when we do that we have them in a disadvantage already before the snap.

To be fair, every defense we face is already at a disadvantage as soon as Burrow steps on the field.

Not a fan of check with me as a norm. You should know most of the defensive tendencies before the game. A coaching staff that requires constant checking, to me, doesn’t have much faith in their QB to make those calls. Always a fan of running the clock. Your best defense is when your offense has the ball and the clock is ticking.

it comes from Brady.
that's what he specializes in.

that is what makes Joe Brady great being able to see what the d is doing and attack it.

Quite the opposite. What I meant by running the clock was still run the high powered plays but run some of the play clock off. Quite different from not even attempting to make a first down by running the ball up the middle twice and then throwing a pass two yards behind the line one third down.

LSU is averaging like 9 yards a play this year Everything they do has resulted in first down.

No. Y’all are overthinking the response. My personal opinion is that excessive check with me/ meerkat looks dumb and you can still have a high powered offense while balancing TOP. Scoring in 23 seconds is fun unless your opponent is doing it too in 2/3 of their possessions. Then you have big 12 horse shite basketball in grass.

In the UF game, we averaged well over a first down per PLAY
