I think it's insulting to the basketball team to use the game as a forum to kiss football recruits' asses.
I haven't seen anybody talk about kissing anybody's arse. All I've seen is someone suggesting that we take advantage of the crowd support that our basketball team generates to impress the recruits that our football coaches choose to bring to the game specifically as part of their attempt to impress them. How someone could conceivably perceive that as an insult to the basketball team is beyond me.

That's like saying that bringing basketball or baseball recruits to a game in Tiger Stadium so they can be blown away by the experience is somehow "insulting" to the football players.

I find this aidea of using the game for football recruiting embarrassing.
Look at the flip side that several people in attendence will take notice that the basketball program has put a quality team worth watch/investing in on the court. I imagine that Trent Johnson could careless that the PMAC was packed with football fans I could only assume that he would like to entertain and build a new fan base, afterall LSU fans support LSU.

That's just dumb. National exposure is huge for every school, both athletically and academically

thats not just dumb. National exposure sure does a lot for Duke's football team doesn't it? And Duke's football exposure has sure done a lot for Duke basketball hasn't it? Football players do not give a left leg about basketball.

What a dumb idea.

These guys hear that everywhere they go. It'll be no different at the PMAC, and likely have no bearing on where they choose to enroll.
But if we do make it different, by ignoring them completely, you're saying that would be more helpful? Since you think cheering for them is a dumb idea, and all.

Doubtful a basketball crowd will sway a football player's decision one way or the other.
Hmm, seems like that would make bringing them to the game a stupid waste of time by the football coaches. And since you believe they will hear this at every campus they visit (thus meaning that they will be brought to basketball games everywhere they visit), you apparently believe that all college football coaches -- the guys who do this recruiting thing every year for a living -- make the same mistake of this colossal waste of time. That seems odd, doesn't it?

My suspicion is that our coaching staff, like most other coaching staffs recruiting top notch high school talent, correctly estimate that an impressive showing at a basketball game can be enough of a factor in a recruit's decision-making process to make it worth the 2 or 3 hours taken from the limited time of a visit. That being the case, I'm inclined to disagree with the assessment that it's a "dumb idea".

Even good recruits that are there know that RR is a huge prospect. Showing love to one guy is not going to alienate anybody. TEAM players know talent is important.

Chanting or making signs and "going off" is fine during time outs. What else ya gonna do?

It shows LSU has a rabid and knowledgeable fan base.
