I've told my Dallas buddy, lets just pack the cooler in his kids red wagon and roam around.

Edit - dragging beer around in a wagon excludes me from being one of those folks jumping thu hoops to tailgate.

man, to me .. bad football is better than no football at all .. they can't all be epic games .. i love to tailgate like the next guy .. but tailgating has NEVER superseded the game itself for me ..

You'd better make sure, Golfer...if you bought a parking pass. The Cotton Bowl brochure that came with the tickets specifically said the lots open at 2pm.

i think golfer had said earlier that it was revised to 12noon and could be even earlier if there were lines to get in ... if it is at 2PM, that is almost useless to full blown tailgate .. just break out the football, the ice chest, and the boom box ..

PARKING LOTS FOR THE 75th AT&T COTTON BOWL CLASSIC WILL OPEN AT NOON ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 7th. BE SURE TO GET THERE EARLY TO SECURE THE BEST SPOTS!

LINK

Straight from the Cotton Bowl Parking site...

If we get in around 10:30-11, thats a good 7+ hours...which is more than a 2:30 home game.

then an hour or so to set up to tailgate

It has never taken me more than 20 minutes. Three tables, dishes, TV with DISH, round table with chairs, three tents, serving line, etc. with 4 people setting it up. I never got to our spot more than 5 hours earlier than game time this year at LSU and had a great time.

just putting it in perspective Mr. Negative.. I see what you are saying about the tight tailgating times.. on the other hand, I'm saying it isn't as bad as you are making it out to be.

CiCi's pizza lot opens at daylight. I love an all day tailgate. Frying a turkey and making seafood gumbo

You're one of the dreaded afternoon tailgaters that no one likes.

Listen to someone who has tailgated twice for A&M-Arkansas games at JerryWorld. For the Arky game this year, they said the lots would open at 9 am. We pulled up to Lot 11 at 730 am and parked on the curb, unloaded our stuff and set up and started drinking. When the lot agents got there at 8 am, there were a solid 20 cars in line holding up traffic, so they let us in and didn't think twice.

In 2009, the game started at 630 pm and they said it would open at 1 pm. We were in the lot at 1030 am tailgating because they didn't want to deal with the lines.

We plan on showing up at 8 am for this one, and I promise you that even if they don't let your car in the parking lot at that time, you'll be able to pull up to the curb, set up your stuff, and start tailgating.

Some people will just look for any reason to bitch. Just stake your spot and go to town, they aren't going to say shite.

Stop by for a beer or 30 in Lot 11. I'll have the maroon blazer on.

I know some locals are setting up deals with business close buy to rent out their parking lots and tailgate.

If you're not tailgating for 10 hours before a night game, you're not doing it right.
