It's more about match ups. FLORIDA and A&M both have TE's that are good receivers and more feature positions at WR so LSU was unable to blitz Db's such as Delpit because they would get exposed with cover match ups. Just like in OT against Aggies. Line was playing contain to prevent QB from running and man to man because they dont have personal to match up. Some said blitz and that leaves disadvantaged Def matchup...some said double team again leaves matchups to Offense advantage

Florida's wr's and te's aren't what beat the LSU defense, the running game did. They ran away from Delpit and at Battle and he failed miserably. The aTm wr's and te's were a mismatch problem.

Our dline talent was in shambles when Orgeron got here. He has done a fantastic job building depth, but the top line talent hasn't shown. Maybe if he gets the juniors to stay we'll see depth and talent next year.

True...but you need those 3 to command double teams and keep the linebackers clean. Otherwise, the line/TEs can get to those linebackers. We really don't have a lineman (I'm hoping Shelvin turns into that guy) that requires a double team right now.

Yes sir, if the ng doesn't command that double team the run defense is in trouble and that happened on occasion this year. I also hope Shelvin can be that inside space killer, he has shown glimpses, he still needs to lose 30 lbs and get into better shape though.

“Our dline talent was in shambles”

In 2015 we allowed 122 yds rushing per game. In 2016 it was bout 116. In 2017 it was 134. In 2018 it was 146.

It seems to me that more the “shambles” has been in 2017, 2018 as opposed to 2015, 2016, but each to our own.

This is a very measured, objective, and reasonable opinion. We have no place for this on the rant. Please kindly show yourself out
