It seems they always have a loss on their resume and can never win the title emphatically.

ULM has more official football national championships than LSU does.

Who seriously disputes the 2007 title?

I dont think the baseball titles are disputed either.

I'm just saying in football- they always seemed to win the title game with a loss. Basically, they got 'voted' in rather than go undefeated and be deserving of the opportunity.

2007 - I dont call a 9 game win streak to end the season with the crystal ball is "voted in".

Well I guess the BCS always votes the teams in. But once LSU pounded OSU, I didnt hear many complaints and no sportswriters I saw were really disputing it. UGA and USC didnt have great arguments.

So...the only way to be deserving is to go undefeated? So...Boise, TCU, and Cincinnati are deserving national champions?

Piss off. 2007 was undisputed. We lost two games in triple overtime. Everyone else was apparently more jacked up than we were, and we whip OSU's butt in the BCS NCG.

Teams in the SEC rarely go undefeated, but the SEC has won the last three and Bama's about to bring this one in (undefeated). But some NOTAC will be arguing that Cincy or Boise St. deserves it, so even that won't be undisputed.

Only undefeated team in 1958. This is, by far, the most undisputed legitimate one of the three (before I get clobbered, not saying 2003 & 2007 ain't "legitimate", just compraison speaking).

Some BS group gave Iowa (at 9-1-1) a #1 ranking in '58, though. Seems a joke, at best.

I'm actually someone who sort of appreciates USC's position vis a vis 2003. I really wish we could have faced them then. Georgia in 2007, not so much.

I find this question to be ironic coming from a Georgia Tech fan.

And the answer is yes. In 1958 we were undefeated and won the AP and UPI. Also, the 2007 championship was unanimous, despite our two loses.

No. But an undefeated NC team is more legit than one with one or two losses.

1958 2003 and 2007. All the universities including USC agreed to the BCS formula and we were awarded the Crystal Ball in '03.The only true National Championship. (USC won an AP championship in '03).
