No - He has regressed actually.

The game does not seem at all to be "slowing down" for him on the typical learning curve.

I have legitimate concern that he may not grow enough to mature into an SEC championship QB. We'll see...

Here we go again, bringing one down to make another look better. This has shite to do with Lee. This has to do with JJ.

How far the LSU offense can go depends on JJ's development. Needs A LOT of work by competent staff. He is a limitation.

he's shown flashes, no question, but he still does the same dumb shite he did early in the year at times.

His drops are horrible. He holds the ball too long. He cant throw an accurate screen pass. Throws a horrible deep ball when he gets it off.

one thing he has improved has been his ability to check down away from his first target. But he still has a lot of improving to do in that area.

JJ is definitely the limiting factor in our offense...along with the OC.

I wouldn't go that far but I don't think he has come near as far as some hoped.

I agree with alot of what LE said.

Went from a 49% passer to a 60% passer. Will go down as one of the best qbs at LSU.

This year, He's deliberate and unsure. With age and experience he should become more assured.

Honestly, he plays his best when the odds are stacked high. Final minutes, after a turnover, etc.

I expect him to be a nationally revered player next year and candidate for ALL SEC.

Throw for 2500 yards plus, 60% comp rate, 23 tds and 7 ints with a couple hundred yards rushing. Give him anything resembling a consistent zone read play and you can add 500 yards passing to that total and more rushing/passing tds.

Stats Look like our last two Championship qbs.

He has a ton of work to do to get that far.

He's doing all this without a decent running game, a terrible o line, and a bad oc coaching.

Pretty impressive.

Has JJ Progressed This Season As He Should Have

He's done as well as most other soph QBs have in the past.

Besides, most progress comes in the offseason after the first full year of PT.

We need an offensive coordinator that teach a QB the college game and then call the plays that makes the offense successful!

I think he is a better overall QB than JJ...dont even bring up the bama game because he got zero snaps in practice with the first team. He did well given the circumstances.

So, I take it you didn't see the LA Tech game? Lee's coaching staff handed him every opportunity in the world (to fail). The miserable coaching job combined with his fear of throwing an interception resulted in a horrible performance.

I think he's a great kid. Thrown to the wolves last year and left to fester.

So, to add to that...I will say that JJ was gently paraded in front of the wolves.

he has nearly 2000 yards passing now with 16tds and 6 ints and 62% completion rate.

That's not far. That's just a hop.

For those at the game:

Several plays, he sat in the pocket for a long time, then scrambled.
Was the Arky secondary that good or is JJ not seeing the open receivers.
I thought maybe the Arky DB's came to play, but then on the TT/ Lafell TD pass, that ball should have been thrown 2-3 seconds before it was.

Is JJ not seeing the field well, and what does it take to improve this aspect?

So we can just assume he'll get 500+ more yards passing, double his rushing, and 7+ more TDs when we won't have to rely on the pass as much?

I'm not saying he hasn't been good, I just don't think he has improved that much as the season has progressed. He certainly hasn't REGRESSED like that one guy said but even looking at where he was last year there hasn't been that much growth.

Winning and prolific offenses doesn't look like them.

JJ would rank where among LSU QB's in your opinion?

Asking for 500 more yards isn't a huge leap of performance in a 12 game schedule. You're looking at simply an extra 42 yds/game. I believe that is do-able. The extra TDs will likely come as our offense improves from bottom of the NCAA.

The yds/game rushing will likely decrease though as he replaces that with more passing.

I did not get to see the La Tech game, but after sitting on the bench the entire season it is difficult to come out and start a game and play well...even if the opponent was subpar. Add in the shitty play calling and coaching, I can see why he didnt do well.
