re: Has anybody had any POSITIVE experiences in Gainesville?

We saw a “coon arse trap” that had a corn dog in it. Told the gators that if they put a bud light in it, they just might catch someone.

He laughed and said if we took a picture with it he’d give us a beer. Tailgated the rest of the day with them.

P.s. We found a random Publix cart on campus and tried to race it down their underground tunnel. That was a disaster.

Gainesville sucks. Tailgating below average. Bars below average. Cops looking to give opposing fans open container tickets. Swamp is a stadium worth viewing a game but that’s about it

I went in 2005 when I was 25. Lots of hot women in cut off jorts that like Bacardi and smirnoff ice.

Fans are cross between Florida redneck ( ok ) and East Coast goombas. Florida is the most transitory State ever- no definitive character and UF is the same. Not a fan of the way they treat you before the game. I do respect their noise level. They get loud.

We were at that game too. My only trip to the Swamp. I thought it was 2005 but my memory fails me sometimes. Early Doucet caught a TD pass from Randall just before half and we trailed 21-14. We got a FG in the 3rd quarter. Defense dominated the 2nd half. We got the ball back at midfield with about 4 min left. Addai gained every yard including the game winning TD with :30 left on a screen pass from about 10 yards out. Fantastic clock management by Randall. It was a night game so no sun issues. Their fans were quiet as a mouse after the game. We had good seats in LSU section. Corner seats but not too high up. Walked around campus on gameday with relatives of my wife's who live there and are UF fans. We had no issues at all. Its a nice campus. Didn't see much tailgating. I found their fans to be much less obnoxious than Auburn fans but ive been to LSU games at Auburn 3 times and we lost them all. Dont plan on ever going back there. At least Gainesville is a decent size town. Auburn is one big cow pasture with a college dumped in the middle of it.
