Mettenberger would have been named the starter at virtually every other program the day he stepped foot on campus considering the competition.

Mett wasn't very good his first year as starter here.

You're going to honestly argue that JJ was better? Where are they now?
Posted on 9/24/14 at 12:31 pm to FightinTiga
People will argue JJ was better because coach Miles said he was better!

Exactly doesn't really matter if the lines on both sides of the ball are shite.

Neither plays in the NFL, fwiw. Lee is in the CFL and JJ is in some weird experimental league. They both sucked. JJ maybe brought a little more to the table with his mobility. Idk.

My only point is that last year we set records for passing and you think that this year we have had a total offensive shift based on the whims of Les Miles'. I would posit that it has more to do with our QB than this sudden philosophical shift.
When our QBs have not been very good, our fans complain about or offense.
When we've had good QBs, our fans don't complain (as much) about our offense.
Fricking this.
Harris has a similar arm to Mett, he just needs a little time to learn the playbook and develop physically. Next season, WATCH OUT folks, you're going to see the same offense we saw in 2013. Coach Cam is going to destroy defenses with these players.
Harris = Mett
Fournette = Hill
Dupre/Dural/Quinn = OBJ/Landry/Boone

I don't care who starts at QB....I just want a balanced attack.....a game plan that gives LSU the best chance to win.

outsider's perspective... told an LSU buddy saturday night during the game.... Harris is better and it isn't close..... further proof that Les never likes to admit when he's wrong...... no need to rehash the title game vs. bama here.... you guys remember that I'm sure. Harris should be the guy.....in my opinion...
Not to sound like a "culo", but I do enjoy outsider's perspectives because it gives a different point of view to things. So, yea, I must agree with you on this......

I am wondering if the boo birds will be out on Saturday night if LSU goes three and out (run, run, incomplete pass) on the first drive.

That's correct. I'll be back for Kentucky booing if little JJ jr takes the field.

I'm going, but have to leave before halftime...I promise to boo all the way to my car though

I've said this for years, going all the way back to his handling of Keiland Williams
Boy, were you right about Keiland. You'd think after Keiland went to all those Pro Bowls Miles would have learned.

So...the guy who should be starting at LSU right now might be a 10th grader who will be in the Pro Bowl in the year 2030?

So now we're equating college success with NFL success? Do you really want to go down that road?
I'm referring to KW ripping off 60 yard runs in the 1st Q and not seeing the ball again until late in the fourth. Or having a 150+ yard rushing game and getting 2 carries the next game

I remember this. I could never figure it out.

Most successful head coaches are pretty fricking stubborn. That's how you get to be a head coach.

Yeah, it isn't like we were throwing all over the field last year. Oh wait.
So you agree the QB is the problem? What you don't agree with, or at least probably don't understand, is that the OL can't block anybody, so we don't even have a run game to rely on. How about getting Harris in there to scare the ever living shot out of the secondary? Perimeter throws, underneath throws like quick slants. Bubble screens, and more WRs on the field at most times.
OL blocking when it's bad, usually lingers unless something drastic occurs. This is not a talent problem, this is a scheme problem. We sucked running against UF, also guys got hurt, I posted about us actually being better on the OL with new guys. The very next game with Hill playing behind true freshman RT Alexander, redshirt freshman RG Turner, and true sophomore Collins, we ran all over a healthy Clowney lead DL. Mett played like shite against USCe and TAMU, yet we still ran on them. We ran all over guys against UF where Mett was playing below average and against Iowa, where Jennings was pretty much a non factor. Why now after all these starts, have we looked like complete dog shite there? What changed the most from last year to this year?
What was supposed to be THE strength, is now the glaring weakness on offense, and outside of DL, the worst position group of the team. We HAVE to scheme around it, and if we keep doing what we are doing, we will be murdered in the SEC.
