This is weird. Next you’ll make a Bat-Signal with the silhouette of a double chin.

Doesn’t everyone agree that:
The cage rush did not work.
Our strategy was to keep Ehlinger from running and trust DBUs to make some picks. That’s strategy did not pay off IN THIS GAME.
Tackling technique needs to improve.
Pass rushers need to learn techniques that unmask offensive holding.
Nutrition (not conditioning) is an issue for hot games.
None of these are serious coaching lapses to me. It’s just learning curve with this team and this schedule, and some good bets that didn’t pay off.

Buckeye Jeaux:
I was just about to post the same thing you posted. I think you are 100% correct. I think Chaisson's comments before the game about Sam Ehlinger being more a threat getting out of the pocket and having the run/pass option and Ehlinger being more of threat of a runner sort may have tipped off the LSU defensive game plan. The Cage rush was the plan with the thought that they did not think Ehlinger could beat them as a pocket passer.
Not to look ahead to next year but when Texas comes to Baton Rouge, scrap that "Cage rush" game plan. Ehlinger is a baller and can throw the ball from the pocket.

Orgeron did seem upset when discussing the failure of the cage rush defense. All Tiger eyes are now on LSU’s defense, we know the offense has the killer mentality. Fixing this current defense is the difference between LSU winning and losing a national title.

Ott just noted LSU defense will have to figure out how to play more snaps. Do you really want to pull back the reins on the LSU offense?

Your cliff notes of Baton Rouge radio shows is kinda weird and annoying.
The defense is not "broken". The defense will be fine. People are going to have to get used to the defense giving up a few more points because if the offense is as efficient as they were vs. Texas, then that will create more possessions for both teams.

The Advocate article about LSU's "Cage Rush"
As an old fat arse 1990s walk-on DE at LSU and avid LSU fan, It boggles my brain how many "fans" don't understand this concept of a 'cage rush'. It's been around for decades to contain mobile quarterbacks and make them use their arm to beat you. Like the prevent defense, When it works you're a genius and when it doesn't you're a goat(Houston Texans Monday Night).
The blame on any one person needs to cease and appreciation increased for just how well Ehlinger pulled a rabbit out his (arse)hat so many times, particularly on 3rd down.
Chaisson gets it(his post game comments). Most coaches and knowledgeable fans get it.
The rest of the "fans" need to step up their football IQ before pointing fingers.

It’s about time for Aranda to earn his money. Whether it’s poor tackling or schemes, LSU isn’t winning a title with his current defense.
I see this narrative isn't going away. Always have to have someone to blame.
Keep this up and you guys are going to run Aranda right out of town.

Needs a sticky. Lots of truth here.

If “the defense will be fine” then prepare for this LSU football team to win the national title. Wish I was as confident as you in regards to the defense. I would put this LSU offense up against any college football team, but not LSU’s defense.

Hannagriff talking offense and Joe Brady, no reason to take the spotlight off Brady at games just because it will attract much attention, “that ship has sailed.”

It's very likely they will not play a QB as proficient as Ehlinger until they face Tua, and they'll never play on a field where the surface temp is probably pushing 120-130 again.

Ree’s little O fanboys need to shut the frick up. O would have been fired by now if not for Aranda. Aranda bailed out the retarded O offense for 3 years. He’s earned his skins
Of course you’re some idiot government worker. Go back to stealing money from people that work hard

Here’s a hint...they are all in order. So this is year 4 with ALL his players. I’ve read extensively here how Les left a bare cupboard, we had no line. We had no linebackers. Why have we gotten worse every year the past 3?
Disclaimer: this is from stat rankings and it excludes FCS games from all rankings for FBS teams. In other words, it’s a level playing field for all teams in the rankings.

Two days ago I wouldn't have agreed with you. Lot's of negative things being said about the LSU defense, pay attention, both defenses got beat. It's a result of the offenses being run. Kind of explains the "lack of defense" in the B12. Should the LSU offense "slow down", HELL NO.
The defense does need to get better, just not the way most fans think. Use the second half of the Texas game to recruit, motivate and develop. The starting defense is great overall, the whole defense just needs to be deeper.
