They've managed to accommodate both bands for 50 years but now it's a safety issue? Come on, man.

50 years ago how much space was taken up for television and media?

Also, safety concerns have changed a lot of things over the last 50 years.

“It’s a safety issue,” Bonnette told The Advocate. “We don’t have room down there for both bands. In order for bands to perform at half, they’ve got to come down to the field before the first half ends. That’s a lot of people on the sideline.”

What about the hundreds of alumni band members, dancers, twirlers etc.?

This sucks, I love the other bands. When both bands go at it, it's awesome.

More time for obnoxious piped-in music.

Pussification of Tiger Stadium.

Either the last time A&M was here, or the time before (I forget exactly), their band cost us. We were on the goal line and their band was there on the field just behind the end zone and they all started screaming, and they made so much noise it disrupted our play. It ticked me off because it struck me as unfair that they did that standing just outside the end zone. Stuff other teams's bands.

Snowflake, you are. A delicate snowflake.

A couple years ago against Auburn at night in the rain, their band hauled the huge chime things they play on the side of the field during the performance through the south endzone and completely destroyed the turf. I know for a fact the grounds crew was pissed.

not to mention a college band bringing all that stuff is stupid and a huge waste of time.

just one more thing to take away from the atmosphere - songs banned, flags and shakers gone, visitors mostly moved up to the upper decks to not be seen or heard from, no more visitor bands or Aggie halftimes.

I would think this would cause the Tigerland band to not be too welcome at other teams stadiums. If you have ever been to the Swamp you know that there is NO room on the sideline or endzone for bands but somehow the Gators aren't afraid to allow both bands on the field at the same time. I think lsu is really being a major vagina on this issue. The bands from opposing schools love the lsu trip because they get to experience New Orleans. Major pussy move lsu.

It absolutly will. I don't expect we will see the band perform at any more away SEC games which means we probably won't be bringing the full band to away games anymore which really sucks.

I've often wondered if it was as bad of a clusterfrick to be down there right before halftime as it looks from where I'm sitting. There's already soooo many tv people, vip randoms, and media folks taking pictures down there then you get to halftime and it's just wall to wall people all around the field.

This is absolutely about the money. The flimsy excuse of safety is just that, an excuse to justify us not sending the Band to away games in the future. Thousands of $$$ saved.

It really sucks because having the full band at an away game is a pretty awesome thing. After touchdowns when the crowd is silent when the band gets going it really fills up the stadium. LSU really screwed up with this.

Why don't we let them play and make our band stay in their seats?
