His offense is essentially letting his guys work in space, freely. We have among the top offenses every year. You guys like to pick out every time something goes wrong. Lemme guess, y’all wanna run the UCLA flex that you ran in high school.

I completely get what you're saying and I agree 98% of the time however, I feel like everytime it comes down to the wire and the other time presses outside of the arch, We never can get a great look at the basket. Last night we could have had a set play that would give CT or JS a great look to get a shot off.

Other than that I love how we let our athletes be better athletes than the other team.

Not worried about a lack of half-court offense. I am concerned because with the scorers and ball handlers we have, we should have a lot more points off the fast break.

Alt, I could go on all day, I highlighted a couple of things that infuriate me, you took a deeper dive. I can't dispute any of what you say because I'm not at practices and meetings and am not privy to what is being said.

So you may be right on it's a WW philosophy, my bigger concern is consistent fundamental flaws that honestly the kids should probably know before they get here.

LSU basketball knowledge in the fanbase is piss poor. You are telling on yourself if you complain about a lack of set plays or, my favorite, say they’re playing “street ball”. Complete ignorance

You can’t be serious right? We ran sets literally all game long. If you’re talking about running old school flex or some sort of pick away motion you don’t understand modern basketball. With a reduced shot clock you can’t afford to waste 10-15 seconds running a constant, flowing offense hoping for a mistake. That’s been replaced with quick sets and more 2 man game stuff out of necessity. We run sets all game dude, did you not see the double staggered screen to pick and pop with Thomas and Days that led to Cam getting to the line 16 times and Days getting those late looks from 3?

I think you’re right on target and that’s an excellent breakdown. I’ll add a couple things I noticed on D last night that may or may not be on Wade. First thing that was mind blowing really was that more than once I saw 2 and 3 guys standing in the lane with theirs backs turned to the ball looking lost. You’re in zone, if you’re unsure where to be find a spot and get to it. Don’t stand around and never turn your back to the ball as it’s coming toward you. Second thing that drove me nuts was the pressure or lack there of. When you’re running any kind of full court pressure or trapping defense the first rule is that you don’t allow the ball handler to scan the court. You don’t always have to force a turnover but you have to get the ball handlers eyes on the trappers because if he’s allowed to see your backend setup he sees the skip pass and you’re done. The last thing is kindve minor but I saw it more than once. On our substitutions we had a lot of confusion. The easiest to remember was Leblanc and Watford asking Wade where to go while the camera had closeups on them but we also had the same issues with Wilkerson and Gaines. Dunno if that’s Wade or assistants but that’s gotta he cleaned up at this point.

Not enough off the ball moving. Way too much dribbling (Smart) and not enough passing. Why not run Thomas off a pick when he doesn't have the ball and get him open for close in shots as well as when he has the ball on the perimeter.

It is incredible how many people around here have started to turn on Will Wade lately. For what exactly?

We are having the best run in decades like wtf

Hmm....I think the same (actually stronger) argument could be made for Coach O, but people turned on him (and he has actually won something). Will Wade is subject to the same criticism as O, PM and everybody else. Nobody is immune.

If i had a gripe about our offensive play, it would be the lack of offensive rebounds and 2nd chance points. we are 11th in the league right now in offensive rebounding. we do better than i would have guessed on defensive rebounding, but once that shot is in the air, we need at least 1-2 guys crashing the offensive boards.

I agree, I understand putting your talent in space and letting them work, and the numbers say it's often effective. But too much dribbling is too much dribbling and I think at times that bites us.

You're looking at just raw numbers. A BIG reason LSU doesn't have the volume of offensive rebounds some of the other teams have is because LSU also leads the league in FG%. You can't get an offensive rebound if you don't miss a shot.

The better stat to look at is rebounding %. That is, what % of the rebounding OPPORTUNITIES are you getting. On that note, LSU is currently ranked 22nd in the country (3rd in the SEC) in offensive rebounding %

One of the teams ranked ahead of LSU is Georgia (2nd in SEC, 10th in the country). However, LSU actually WON the offensive rebounding battle vs. UGA both in gross number 16-15 and % (about 1.5% better)

Starting in year two Wade's LSU teams have been tremendous on the offensive glass (top 25 in the nation). Thus far, it looks like that trend is continuing.
