Brandon Taylor made a good play or two

And several times he was confused and totally out of position.

I can excuse Taylor bc this was he first real game action. CJ however has no excuse.

those are staples of Chavis' though, esp. zone blitzing
I personally think zone blitzing is retawded!!

I say either go man blitz or go no blitz. And when we blitz, we should be bringing more than 1 LB. Cause I also looked back over the D in the first half and we were just wasting a LB everytime we blitz.

It seemed like when we did blitz it was always from the outside forcing our DL to bunch. I thought that in 07, our fast DE gave more opportunity to blitz up the middle and get to the qb directly.

Especially with such a fast qb, why didn't they blitz more up the middle?

+1...he was easily the most disapointing player from the game. I really expected something else. He has the size, speed, and strength. But he just isnt good. Im really hoping he proves me wrong against vandy.

You and Ryan have good points. We'd blitz one LB or DB to the outside every single 3rd down, and we'd freakin bunch a speedster in Alem in at the line.

We blitzed way too much, and way too predictably. If you blitz once every 3 or 4 third downs instead of every single 3rd down, it would be much less predictable.

That screen pass for 55 yards on UWs first drive, we had 3 guys in coverage and the other 8 blitzed. They showed the blitz 5 seconds before he snapped it. Terrible!!!

McCray will get exposed on any football field. He takes poor angles, can't wrap anyone up& can't cover anyone. He may be called upon to cover people if chavis comes up with different pakages. Wish people would stop defending this guy & call it like it is. To me him starting shows that Les wants his "senior" guys in there. Thank the lord they pulled him after he was owned with the hitman on that stiffarm.

Sarkisian indicated afterward that Locker could run more in the future.

"Every game is going to vary some," Sarkisian said. "This is a physical team and the hits he did take took their toll on him. That was a big, physical football team that was violent when they got there. ... So it's going to vary from game to game. But that was a pretty good indicator."
If you think Sarkisian knows football, then our defense will get better and better, because most of the QB's we will face are not going to be of the Locker mold.

The game winning touchdown in the 2003 naytional championship game was scored by Marcus Spears in the same defense. Zone blitzes weren't uncommon at all during the Saban years. I think Kyle Kipps may have gotten an INT the same way during the 03 regular season. And we'll most likely see Bama use it against us lster in the year.

Now, I realize Pep is no Spears. And I'm not personally that big a fan of the zone blitz. But to say that it's some ridiculous strategy that LSU should never use a) is probably incorrect and b) was in fact used to great effect by Miles' esteemed predecessor.

Yeah, but it should be used 4-5 times a game, instead of about 8 times in the first half alone.

if you saw the game, it would be stupid to consider him a first rounder.

I don't have a problem critiquing the scheme, however tackling and angles continue to be a huge problem, the calls could have been made by Saban, but if the tackling and angles weren't any different, the score wouldn't have been much different.

I agree with the addition that we need to focus on tackling during pratice this week. If we wrap up, that was a different game
+1

please show the highlights of Patricks petersons "white on rice" style. I was shocked Washington kept going his way.
