LSU’s offensive assistant coaches tried to convince LSU head coach Les Miles not to run right at Alabama’s formidable Front Seven last season.

Sorry, I am not reading 10 pages...but has it already been stated that the article does not quote a single LSU coach who said this ^^^ ?

But most of lsu' yards were against the cream puffs. How about you post stats from actual SEC games and see the difference. Plus those 500 something yards against ole miss mean nothing when you get best 38-17.

For the record, LSU passed on 1st more than any other down last

for the record they also ran on first down more than any other down.

YOU HAVE MORE FIRST DOWN PLAYS THAN SECOND DOWN PLAYS AND MORE SECOND DOWN PLAYS THAN 3RD DOWN PLAYS. EVERY TEAM DOES.

pERCENTAGES ARE ALL THAT MATTERS WHEN IT COME STO THIS:

WE passed the ball 29% on first down plays, 28 % on 2nd down plays and 57 % of 3rd down plays last season

in comparison to 2013 when we had Mett at QB and this supposed pass happy offense we threw the ball 32 % of the time on 1st down and 32% on 2nd down. Not really a significant difference.

best not to dwell in the past. Miles and Cam now know the error* of their past ways and seem ready and eager to learn and embrace the present day of how modern day football is played on offense (in the modern era*)

It would actually be amazing to see Cam/Les incorporate some of what Baylor has been doing the pay few seasons. Very similar in terms of style of offense when you break it down;

Emphasis on power run with a big, powerful OL and using the power run to get one-on-ones downfield with WRs for big strikes. Only difference obviously is Baylor does so in a much more modern spread look (and hurry up) while we attempt to do the same with a fullback and two TEs on the field.

Maybe just greener grass. Baylor struggled against the meat of their schedule also and lost 3 games.
Vs common opp TTU, LSU had almost 1.4ypp advantage.

I would like to see some HUNH mixed in to get more plays per game.

The 2nd most yards gained all year against the 7th ranked defense in all of cfb ( florida).
You do realize that every offense plays worse against better defenses, right? Thats not just a lsu thing. Just like Texas Tech had their worst offensive showong against us in the bowl game. The better the defense the less efficient your offense performs.

It only means nothing because it doesnt support your argument. If it did you would be using them. You gripe because i use stats when you do the exact same thing when it supports your arguments.
The only difference is more of my claims are backed up by stats.

In sec play only Bama gained 417 yards per game and lsu gained 402.

And the fact that lsu had to play UF (#7 DEFENSE in all of cfb) and Bama ( #1 defense in all of cfb) and bama got to play TENN (37th defense in all of cfb) and lsu (23rd ranked defense in all of cfb) can explain those measly 15 yards difference.

We will always be a run 1st team under Miles.

As would i. The average fan just looks at out offensive totals and doesnt realize that we never run a HUNH so out plays ran totals are extremely low and it skews our totals. I enjoy reading your posts and you rarely post things that arent backed up by facts.

Miles changed the game plan on Thursday before the Bama game. They practiced a balanced attack for two weeks before that. The plane ride home was very interesting and informative from what I've been told.

I am pretty sure you didn't need to be Les Miles to see that the OL simply got outclassed in tuscaloosa that night.

If 50/50RP is your idea of balance, not counting audibles, there were 22 actual passes (sacks, PI included) called out of 45 total plays run.

Very vague post about such an informative plane ride.

Pollyanna was a good movie But,

The Facts Speak Loud and clear. Les Miles has lost many games we should have won the last few years. Don't give me that lame talk about his record.

SEC
2012 - 6-2
2013 - 5-3
2014 - 4-4
2015 - 5-3

Your facts of tryin to support a under achieving coaching job by your buddy les is getting old. We could have easily lose to Ole Miss, Miss. st (once) and Florida (twice) during that stretch.

I guess you love our lame and ancient offense ?? For those of us who PAY to watch that under use of talent we have a right to complain.

There is no gameplan that works when your oline is giving up 5 sacks and 9 tfls. Not one of our rbs abg more than 3.2 ypc. I dont understand how so many lsu can watch that title game and think a game plan would change the outcome.
Ive seen so many people say that he shouldve put in Lee, which is crazy. Our oline was getting absolutely manhandled and JJ was running for his life all game and your answer to this is to put in a less mobile qb that throughout his entire struggled to deao with pressure. A qb with a career 1td-7 ints vs bama.
