GREEDY WILLIAMS plus others

It seems this all started with Fournette. So this means each year we can expect players to sit out the Bowl game.
Ed Orgeron should prevent any players not playing in the Bowl game from using LSU facilities for training and not being able to participate in the LSU Pro Day. They're off the team "so clean out your locker and never come back."
Doesn't he realize that LSU "coached him up" to this level?
Does he realize he's letting down his team mates?

Fournette was hurt

That would be really dumb.

Do you realize how glad I am that you don't get to make those decisions?

I'm curious how much leverage you think a coach has over kids that are producing a lot of wealth yet are working for almost free?
The next class of Greedy Williams and Fournettes can just go somewhere else if they want. So what do you do? Throw the gauntlet down and risk losing high dollar recruits?

There should be some sort of financial penalty with sitting out a game. Pay back that years tuition once you “get paid”. It strikes me that they are “breaking contract”. See if it’s still a wise business decision. This shite needs to be dealt with before it gets even worse.
Why play in any game after we get owned by Bama every year? Chances are we’re out of the discussion at that point. Better yet, why even suit up for Bama at all. It’s probably just too risky to play such a physical opponent. Might get hurt.

Yeah, they can go to Bama where they’ll probably play in two additional games every year. So fricking risky!

This would send a great message to recruits.

I said something similar on another thread. Player should be required to pay back that years scholarship plus any other additions. There needs to be some consequence for the action.

Just see how low our football program would become if this ever happened.

9-3 every year is going to guarantee it, if O is still pulling top talent.

Correct. Fournette was hurt. That was different. In fact, Fournette played hurt against Florida. Nobody should question his devotion to LSU.
People need to stop repeating media narratives and focus on reality. Have any other LSU players (again, excluding Fournette, who was hurt) skipped playing in the bowl game b/c of fear of getting hurt and jeopardizing their NFL draft status? I'm asking; I don't know. I don't think it's been a common occurrence, for one thing.
Which to me, does place more attention on Greedy's decision, since to my knowledge he's really the first LSU player to make this decision (not playing for fear of getting injured.) I think he should play, but, it's his decision and I see no point criticizing him for it. The fans are not in his shoes. He's the player and certainly cares more about LSU football (has lived it, worked, sweated, etc.) than a fan could. I would hope it wasn't an easy decision for him.

Stay and play ball, or leave to take a multi-million dollar signing bonus, and have to pay back $20 or 30 grand in scholarship money, I cant see anyone having to put much thought into this decision.

It didnt. It started with the playoff. Just like the NIT became an afterthought in basketball for teams that didnt make the NCAA tournament, the same has and will continue to happen in football. Pre playoff, this shite never happened because the opinion of the bowl game was different. This sitting out thing isnt happening (and won't happen) to playoff teams.
