You have a list of players who have sat out playoff games to prep for the draft? That list is empty. That's what "unprecedented" means

Tell that to the team who's making the trip out there and the coaching staff as well.

Stupid...

People forget that playing football keeps you good at playing football.

There is precedent of players sitting out full years and hurting their draft choice.

I'm just saying "my family is more important" doesn't work as a reason to skip a bowl. I don't care if he skips. Like I said, that's up to him. The bowl is largely meaningless. But is his family more important than a National Championship? I would certainly hope so!

He's not sitting out of the national championship. He's sitting out of an exhibition game that has no impact on LSU making it to the national championship. Greedy played in every single game that could have put LSU in a potential playoff game.

I understand. You're saying the playoff games just mean *so much more.* But they ultimately don't. If he wanted to sit out a Playoff game, who could blame him. 1999 said he'd support it. Millions on the line! He could break his neck!

Gonna go find the interview where jaylon says he wouldn’t change a thing.

People also forget that hiring an agent that will put in you in position to train will all world trainers in the lead up to the biggest day of his life, the combine, is also going to be a good way to make him a better football player

Cool, I didn't know he said that. That's pretty cool of him to say, but it did cost him in the range of 8 digits

For the third time, I don't blame him for sitting out. It's his call. Just hypothetically, if we were the 4 seed in the Playoff playing Alabama, and Greedy decided to skip it, would you have any right to be upset? I think it's an unequivocal "no."

That’s an idiotic hot take. Of course pro bowl isn’t his only option. But it is his only option at being a millionaire. His only option at providing for his kid’s kids. To give back to his community, potentially.

Not one person on planet earth would take your “real job” over being a professional athlete and making millions. To say he should play in a bowl game because he always has the option to be a plant operator baw is fricking stupid.

I don't think it's a pointless game. LSU is recruiting some big name guys on the west coast and a chance to play a bowl game close to them this year,IMO, is important.

Because LSu was not eliminated from playoff contention until after losing to A&M

Exactly.

I suspect it would be more along the lines of: "I don't feel like wasting time practicing for another month just to play in some game that really doesn't mean all that much AND risk getting hurt when I'm on the cusp of being a first round draft pick. Sorry, I've done what I came to LSU to do. Get in position to move on to a multi-million dollar career in the NFL. I don't have anything left to accomplish here."

Selfish relative to his less highly regarded teammates? Absolutely.

But it's no more selfish than a bunch of fans berating him simply because HIS decision hurts their favorite team's chances of winning.

I'd be 10000x more disappointed than I am now. I wish Greedy would play, but I accept his call. I also don't think he would sit if LSU were in a playoff game.

Greedy isn’t playing because he got an agent as soon as he could. And that’s sad he couldn’t wait to help out his team.

Totally agree. I'm not criticizing him at all. Everyone has to look out for #1. It's the posters who act like "well if he plays in the Fiesta Bowl, he's probably going to die. It's a no-brainer to sit" that drive me up a wall. It's much more nuanced imo

You don't have the right to say it's "sad", IMO. His teammates do, and by all accounts, they fully support it.
