I’ve thought about his family a ton over this last day or so. It can’t be said enough, with having a young child I can’t imagine the pain that they are going through.

Wayde’s spirit will continue to live and I pray that his parents will be hugged and supported continuously until they can hopefully one day experience some sort of peace.

Same goes for a lot of cities in America, and around the world. It's not confined to where most of us live, it just hits you harder when it does happen nearby, and to someone who was destined to be a great role model.

Well said...Coach Wade was practically gushing over Wayde and how he had transformed his body this off-season and all of the hard work he'd put in. So tragic and sad. Let's hope one of the several people who knows who the killer is steps forward and puts this punk away for life.

As a parent you never get over it ... you just learn to deal with it.

I wish there was a way we could stop these senseless shootings in our city but reality is that a lot of people in this city do not care or respect human life.

Dale Brown stated that our moral compass is lost. He is right. I'm not a bible thumper but I think that there should be some kind of required coursework from the time of middle school through high school that is mandatory (not necessarily religion class -- 13 years of Catholic school here.)

Suggest mandatory school courses in Anger management; How to successfully resolve a conflict without the use of violence?

Many of the young people in the parts of BR and NOLA that live the life of crime have had no socialization. And others (I'll use Darius Guice and his brother as an example) grow up with the same mother and are polar opposites, one is successful in the NFL and the other was arrested for driving the getaway car.

Society needs to change and it needs to start in the home and branch out to other groups, schools, etc.

I said it in the main thread, schools need to teach the value of human life and from a very young age. Engrain that in the fabric of every child’s being. Doesnt have to be religious or anything. Inner city schools especially could use these kind of programs because these kids grow up around a lot more violence.

There have been onions being chopped everywhere I've been since Friday morning at 6 a.m. when I heard this terrible news.

I feel so bad for the Sims family. Not only did they lose their only child, their family is irretrievably broken. They will never experience the joy of having extended family: D-I-L, grandchild(ren) etc.

This would have been easier to deal with had we had time to prepare for his death. One bad decision by a fool with a firearm changed many lives for the worse forever.

Dale Brown said it best: "Where's BLM" in all of this? They won't show up because it's black on black. Until communities come together and say "Enough is enough" it will continue.

I still think of Shelby Holmes, Ryan Francis and now add Wayde Sims to the list of people dying for no good reason.

I like the picture of him reading to the kids.

I like the picture of him showing off his tats. The Tiger and the 225 showed his love for his hometown.
