...namely that they finally found out what's wrong with Storz. He has a tear in one of his lats. It never showed up in the MRI and they couldn't figure out why he had pain, but they've finally diagnosed it.

[MLB.com article on Syndergaard when he had something similar]

Apparently this doesn't require surgery to treat. They inject platelet-rich plasma into the area around the tear and the body will heal itself.

Storz is going to be shut down for the summer but they expect him to be fully healthy this fall for the first time in well more than a year. And Mainieri is more fired up about him than any other pitcher they've got. So while everybody's filling out predictions for the weekend rotation, don't leave this guy out.

Is that what caused him to miss time his Senior year of high school as well?

Agreed he has Friday night stuff.

PM guaranteed Hess is returning as a starter on radio at 5:00.

Won’t be moved to a reliever unless he just can’t get it done.

CPM also compared Can Sanders to Nola before the season. I think we are all excited to see what Stortz can do, but don't get too caught up in every word he says.

That's what it sounds like. This thing has gone undiagnosed, or misdiagnosed, for a while, because he's had multiple MRI's that didn't pick it up.

So I'm putting in my weekend rotation projection, at least for when SEC play starts. Calling it now - Walker on Friday, Marceaux on Saturday, Storz on Sunday and Labas in the midweek games. Hess, Peterson and Hilliard work the back end and we might not lose a single game where we lead in the 6th inning.

That's fine. He still probably will have the best stuff on the entire team, so if we can start and do it well then awesome.

Difference is, if he just isn't cutting it next season, we have the ability to plug in another starter. Didn't have that luxury this season.

I get that, but it isn't just Mainieri who likes this kid. Storz was considered a potential first round pick before he got shut down as a senior because of this injury.

I know, and I hope he lives up to every bit of the hype.

I think that late season Cam showed that that comparison could be accurate.

He obviously doesn't have the control that Nola had at this point in their respective careers but the stuff is there and is very similar.

He was also seen as a two way prospect. Dude can hit. Selfishly with all the arms we have I would like to see him play first and have a minor role in the bullpen late in games as a setup man or second closer when Peterson cant go.

Mainieri also said from the beginning that the issue with Sanders was control.

This myth needs to go away. Bain is successful and Peterson hits a fluke and all of a sudden everyone thinks all pitchers should bat.

Realistically y'all hated slaughter and Storz is a lesser version of him at the plate. He can hit bombs sure. But his average will be sitting low .200s if he bats consistently. The dude has holes all over his swing.

He's going to make his name and his money on the mound. Hes going to make a shite pile of money from the mound at that.

We have real hitters coming in to fill 1b and DH.

You'd really rather Storz hit than someone like Garza?

Okay with Storz this isn't a myth. And no I want who ever can have the most successful bat in the lineup.

Storz was a catcher early in high school and only switched to pitcher like his junior or end of sophomore year. He won the US homerun derby out of high school, obviously he might not pick it up as a hitter at the collegiate level but to say it's a myth is flat out wrong. I want the best bat in the lineup regardless who it is, but would still like to give him a look with his ability and with the amount of arms we have at pitcher.

False, he was getting legitimate looks as a hitter prior to coming here.

Hitting homeruns in batting practice is not equal to being a competitive hitter in the SEC.

And even in the outside chance that he could polish up his swing, a dominant weekend starter (which is he has a very real very likely shot to be) is much more valuable than another power hitter with this class.

If he was healthy last year I would've said go for it but not now

I acknowledged this in the previous post, I was addressing you saying it was a myth when the guy was a legit prospect as a hitter.
