I disagree. The wheel route to the RB is just one option not THE option.

You literally couldn't be more wrong. That play was designed for the RB to be the FIRST option.

Plays like that don't belong at this level of college football

They have plays just like that in the NFL all the time. Literally every NFL and college team has a play similar to that one in the playbook using misdirection and the QB is told who to throw the ball too.

He is not a QB and has absolutely no chance at the next level. Too easy to stop because he is no threat down field.

I already said that I concede that the play was designed to give Daniels an easy pass to start the game.

In my defense, most of those "designed to go to one player" plays in the NFL are "extension of the running game" plays or quick hits including slants, bubbles, screens, and rubs. They're not usually slow developing routes reliant on the RB getting a free release and not picked up by a LB/S.

I’m sorry but you don’t get a pass for throwing 2 picks against Southern because you use the qualifier of real competition. If anything using that qualifier makes the two INT’s worse.

He’s not terrible, which is sort of the whole issue. Just good enough to keep the coaches committed, but not good enough to get LSU to the playoffs…

I think this is the biggest frustration with LSU fans and why so many people have to grasp at the littlest things including blaming drops on the QB to justify their position.

I'll give you that, but it was the first play of the game. Denbrock saw something where he knew he could manipulate their rules and get an easy one. You see that alot early ini games. See Ole Miss every week last year. They gashed teams first drive of almost every game with a a play like that.

Welp, the corches have their work before them. Do they not. I like the fact that he is merciless.

90+% of the video focuses on poor play calling and gameplan but your takeaway was that Denbrock wasn't at fault on the first drive?

This is exactly right, totally limits the offense and his lack of throwing downfield expounds the poor run blocking because, like you said, they just walk up a safety and can either congest the underneath routes that Daniels relies on and can play run support with an extra guy in the box.

If he was even remotely as talented as Mahomes we would not be having these conversations.

Whoever did that review skipped two plays in the redzone on that first drive. We tried running it three times. The reviewer is making it look like we only tried once. That was the bad play calling and that IS on Denbrock. On the second attempt there was an unnecessary roughness penalty on FSU that bailed us out which is the only reason we got the chance to see JD try to pass it. It is misleading the way that video was done.

Jayden doesn't throw a catchable ball. That's not a little thing.

Failure to not get any points on that initial red zone drive was a game breaker. If we were Germany, it was our Stalingrad...

Don’t have to rewatch it. Daniels made the wrong decision m. He also did it in the redzone on the next drive. He also did it when the pass option of the rpo was running down the field with no one within 10 yards of the wr. Daniels played a HORRIFIC game. It happens. BUT he deserves a leash albeit a short one.

It happens every time he goes up against defenses with a pulse. His booty hole puckers up and he gets ultra conservative with the ball and goes noodle armed. Even against a bad Florida defense last year when he had a decent game numbers wise. Most of his throws were short ducks to wide open guys who were waiting for it.

Bad QB play makes everyone look bad. OL looks bad. WR look bad. OC looks bad. RB looks bad. Defense is on the field too long and looks bad. This why Daniels should be replaced.

Football 201 right there. Over the head of most on here. I remember how the Rant chimed that Burrow’s OL was terrible and he made them look good. The reverse is also true. Bad QB play is more than yard results. Failure to detect pressure and adjust his protection and not properly reading coverage makes everyone look bad. Burrow said he spent an entire day each week with an analyst just on pass protection

Dude had 470 combined total offense yards. He didn’t play as bad as y’all are making it out to be… things need to improve absolutely, but damn y’all must have forgot how our previous QBs use to play. We would kill for those numbers under miles
