You can hear it all over, not just the student section.

My seats are near the east sideline.

There's no excuse for vulgarity in a public place.

While I agree that its trashy, especially the adults that get involved or let their young children as well. But for the most part we are talking about 18 to 22 year olds. They are going to be immature. And trying to take away something like this is only going to make them do it even more when opportunity arises.

People have kids at these games and it’s inappropriate

I completely agree.
And it’s a divisive issue. Many think it’s terrible, trashy and obscene and many of those that do the chant couldn’t care less about offending and will gladly piss their fellow tiger fans off. Great for us

There is cursing at every sporting event. Especially when college kids are involved.

Train them while they're young to be intimidating Tiger fans.

1) are you saying that there are no societal
standards for behavior in public at all?

Sure there are social standards but who sets them? And what enforcement do they have? It's just whatever a given majority of the population thinks is important in any given time. If we're talking about being shunned socially, then that's acceptable reprisal. If we're talking about a denial of services rendered or revoked or goods not delivered after payment or even worse, arrest or civil litigation then we're talking about a whole different ballgame. People often get lost in the weeds on this.

, that is exactly the opposite of respectful, accountable behavior.

The problem is that this is wholly subjective. For example, I personally don't care, neither does my wife and several people I know.

quote:

If you strive to teach your kids to be that kind of person, you must value that behavior.

It's not that I value it. It's precisely that I don't value it that makes the difference. It's just not important to me. I value the things that make them a good person. To me, what makes a person good isn't defined even in part, by their language but instead, their actions. Actions speak louder than words.

quote:

Yet here you are saying that a group of people bears no responsibility to society as a whole and can conduct themselves however THEY see fit without regard to how others feel about it?

That is correct. I couldnt care less what people think about me unless I need something from them. That was the American ideal. That of rugged individualism. Responsibility to society is an ideal of socialism.

"Those that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter."

There's a line between cursing and vulgarity and that line shouldn't be crossed.

Obviously you weren’t at the game.
The whole stadium was doing it.

If you could care less, that means you care.

The correct term is couldn't (a/k/a could not) care less.

So how much less could you care?

Your mother’s clit ring is also unnecessary, but I let her wear it because I like the way it rubs my junk.

Have none of you ever sat around people who yell profanity during games? Tiger stadium isn't church.

I remember when Will Muschamp was coaching at LSU and my seats were at the bottom so I could hear a lot during warmups.. That dude would go nuts and he would use A LOT of profanity..

Individual people cursing, even frequently and loudly, is not the same as an organized vulgar cheer. If you cannot perceive the difference I don’t know what to tell you.

I'm aware. That's my talk-to-text that I use when I'm on my phone. It's fricking terrible. It's constantly fricking up my words. I guess it's my Mushmouth New Orleans accent.

Fixed

STTDB is trashy, totally agree. But the fact that you can't be a good enough parent to either shield your kids from it or explain why it's inappropriate is much trashier.

One vs. an organized group chant by 1000s.

The point is that everyone shouldn't have to hear it.

There were first timers sitting behind me... men that were in disbelief at what was being screamed and they were 20 years younger than me.

Not everyone enjoys being subjected to vulgarity/profanity.
