On the final play of the 2019 Jim Thorpe winners year, Grant Delpit makes a text book tackle forcing a fumble that seals the National Championship for the LSU Tigers. That fumble was recovered by none other than Derek Stingley Jr. The passing of the baton one could say. The Legend of DBU is well and strong and Grant Delpit's story will never be forgotten. What a way to go out.
I noticed that at the time, and thought that was the most fitting way possible for this defense to finish.

All the talk about Clemson's #1 defense and Ohio State being the more complete team... it was LSU's defense that smothered Oklahoma's crazy offense, and kept Clemson from taking any control in the finals.

And Delpit and Stingley being the guys involved in that play made you want to chant DBU, DBU

Ha. How fitting.

This time, it was most assuredly a fumble.

Chase may go the Cushenberry (was offensive #18 this year) route and wear a #7 patch on his jersey.

You are completely talking out of your arse here. Absolutely 0 chance Chase is wearing a #7 patch next year.

I'm just pointing out that receiving an honorary number and keeping your jersey number isn't unprecedented.

Not for lack of trying. The ONLY reason why Lloyd did not wear 18 (i.e., change to 18) is because the NCAA did not grant him a special waiver becasue the offensive lineman can only wear certain numbers (of which 18 is not included).

If JaMarr were to get #7, he would change his number.

Probably the passing of the 7 jersey as well.

#7 needs to stay on the defensive side!
