He's attended ND, surprising he doesnt like Miles' comments.

I don't think Gottlieb is a big ND fan after his stint there.

IMO, Miles should have taken the high road and kept his comments to himself. No gain to be gotten from his statements.

Miles should've said ...let Gunner Kiel enjoy his time in south bend where they struggle annually and haven't been relavent the last decade.

Maybe Gunner can lead them to a victory over a big east team this year.

miles comments were a bit immature....the kid is 18 years old, and he changed his mind. Miles is a grown man. Sounds like Miles is just pissed at himself that he let the kid get away.

I think he's right to question the young man's strength of character after he bails on him without so much as a phone call letting him know he wasn't coming in after all, after they had made plans to accommodate him and actually lost out on another recruit so they could fit him in.

Though maybe he shouldn't say things like this in public.

there is a difference in the justification of being pissed and keeping those feelings within your staff and locker room; and being the face of a program and getting into a public spat with a teenager that is reported on ESPN.

Gottlieb is a douche. Why is he talking about football anyway? Isn't he just a a basketball analyst?

Do I agree with Miles' decision to bash the kid? NO,

that was hardly a bash, he just said the kidd didnt have the heart to be a team leader and that is clear to be the case just how many times he switched his mind

I'm sure Miles is extremely concerned with Gottlieb's opinions. If the kid had heart he would have notified someone of his decision. How long do his feelings have to be protected. If his daddy had taught him that growing up, big, mean old Coach Miles wouldn't have to be such a meanie head about it.

You have to realize where he made the comment. It was at the recruiting bash. The same place he said frick Bama previously. He didn't go on ESPN and say frick Gunner. ESPN is choosing to make it a story. Meanwhile Saban fricks a kid over on NSD and ESPN doesn't say shite.

I agree that in 2012 EVERYONE ought to understand that everything they say anywhere in a public setting should be assumed to be being recorded...so with that in mind only say what you'd be happy to defend.

That said, I'd have preferred Miles simply lay out the specifics of what the kid did. No reason to take a petty shot...the truth would likely sting worse and would give dickheads in the press little room to bash you. But I have no problem in principle with Miles telling everyone in the room and the nation about a shitty recruiting deal.

Miles could have shown at least some degree of character by keeping his negative comments to himself - like JL did.

not sure why anyone thinks this has anything to do with Kiel's reaction or how he feels about Miles calling him out.

Regardless of Kiel's reaction or if he deserved it, it doesnt look good to have a 55 year old man calling an 18 year old a pussy all over ESPN.

He did not act like an adult or a proper ambassador of LSU's program.

Gunner Kiels mom was loading up on purple and gold then all of a sudden he enrolls at ND the day he was supposed to enroll at LSU with no notice.

His shite was super weak IMO, and I would love to see LSU meet up with ND in a bowl game with Kiel at QB.
