re: Goodbye Beth…

The issue is clearly in 2 areas, culture and recruiting, Beth’s main mistake was trusting Leftwich with both and she was a miserable failure. Leftwich pushed DEI and recruited players that were mid majors players at best to fit her narrative. She also changed hitting philosophy to launch angle trash that ruined careers of multiple players. The other mistake was allowing Coach Howard to coach USA softball, he was the main recruiter and by a long margin the best evaluator on the staff, that allowed Leftwich and her corrosive culture and beliefs to corrupt LSU softball. Beth started the change with the new hire and should have done everything possible to retain Coach Howard but he wanted to watch his son play baseball. The 2026 class was Neal’s 1st and it’s elite and I base that off not rankings but who offered them and it was the likes of UCLA, A&M, Texas, Florida, OU and others. We need 5-7 portal players to overhaul the roster similar to what Jay did upon his arrival

We will be in the national championship talk all year.
Y’all seriously can’t believe this.
This program has always had talent. We see the EXACT same issues year after year. They start off hot (beat some quality teams early), collapse in middle and late SEC play. Limp into post season only to fold under pressure. It’s been this way since 2017. And we have now lost in regionals at home in 2 of the last 3 seasons. This time LSU lost to a 4 seed and not even make it to championship Sunday which is a new low for Torina. We were the 9 seed in the SEC this season so clearly we are also very far away from competing for a potential SEC title.

The program has about 5 true SEC championship type players including pitchers and that’s it. Leftwich recruited horribly!!!

Agree. You are one of them.
Maybe.
But I’m definitely not stupid enough to believe a team that just finished in the bottom half of its conference and lost twice in the regional its hosting to a directional instate school is 1 player away “from a natty”
That’s a special level of stupid. You’re a member of a very exclusive club.

I played and coached at a small time level.
This makes you no more the expert than any poster on the board.

It is not as easy as the typical fan makes it seem.
I don’t think anyone is saying it’s easy; we’re identifying (correctly so) that Torina isn’t getting LSU softball to the goal: which is the WCWS and then hopefully a natty.

Are you better in life than she is?
This seems like an emotional and irrelevant question.

What is your win percentage?
Irrelevant since no one here is asking to be given the job.
The people defending Torina’s performance aren’t really offering any material or specific reasons for her defense, particularly as it relates to how badly we’ve been in post-season play. Coaching is not easy, but great coaches are able to navigate those challenges.
If your experience as a player and coach provide you some higher level of insight, please provide it and state your case rather than attacking those who think it’s time for a change.

She has 700+ wins with a strong winning percentage. 42 wins this season. Everyone acts like it is easy. It ain't.
Is it fun to say that every single year? She's been here over a decade and hasn't won anything.

8 years since CWS and losing to Hammond twice in a row at home would be the end for any coach.

I know 100% that at least one of the girls at SLU wasn't good enough to play for LSU according to Beth. She has a few RBIs for SLU against LSU this weekend.
Parkview girl.
Even crazier is her high school coach at Parkview is the most decorated softball player in the history of LSU.

plenty here have coached/coach and have played multiple organized sports at different levels. who cares?
My family(girls and boys) is full of college athletes, some of which are/were DIV 1 players. who cares?
I have had to deal with college coaches at all levels on the recruiting trail for years. I am friends with many. again, who cares?
none of that has anything to do with the facts laid out against torina.
so your excuse is " well it is HARD and not easy".
who ever said it was supposed to be easy?
were we supposed to keep john brady because it was hard? miles? nikki?
when you a re making 455k a year nobody cares. they want results.
at this level and $$$ they want results. title results. when is last time beth won the SEC?
you sound emotionally attached to torina in some way shape or form.
This is a business not a volunteer sport anymore.

Having a great game against your Super Bowl team doesn’t mean they would be great through a SEC schedule, that’s recency bias!!! One of their great players has 18 errors in the Southland conference so you can increase that by at least 5-6 in the SEC..

Maybe you were responding to someone else but this isn’t even close to what I said.

She’s just like Nikki Caldwell. Downward trajectory as soon as they started having children.

Beth is a good coach. She seems to have lost her pep. There was nothing motivational in her actions or interviews all weekend.

Goodbye Beth
I hate to say goodbye to Beth Torino. Sorry to see her go. She’s a super high quality person. It started out with such promise, but had really turned into a rollercoaster. Things just never vibed for her in Baton Rouge. I hope she lands on her feet professionally and personally . She definitely won’t look back. Once Beth is done, she’s done. She’s a gritty lady. Good luck Beth, wherever you go. I’d really hoped you’d be part of the family forever.
Scott Woodward is probably going to make a big move next. I know Scott thought Beth was a lifetime move.
wink wink lightness and sunshine

I wasn't talking about the Parkview girl, but there were probably quite a few on SLU's team that fit that description.
