Then where does the “Big Game Kelly” moniker come from?

I think his main problem is talent evaluation. Some of the best o-lines at LSU weren't always full of 5 stars, they were just coached well and the blocking schemes weren't garbage.

I agree, sort of! I think some of these guys have talent, but they are not well coached. This is not a "this year" problem, but this goes back for a few years and Davis is the common thread.

It's also time for CBK, who I think very highly over, to earn his $10M a year to correct the problem ASAP. He needs to quit worrying about tough questions from reporters and find answers to a long existing problem or his employment is going to eventually come into question.

I don't think it's talent.

I think it's 75% scheme / 25% coaching. We have a terrible run scheme and play calling. It's very telegraphed when at the line and the play calling is predictable.

This is what stood out as different about the Clemson game, especially in the second half up until the last 5 mins. We were less predictable than we have ever been under Sloan for those 25 mins. We had a lot of misdirection happening in both pass and run plays.

Why has that only been the case for one half of one game when it worked quite well creating some favorable matchups and numbers advantages? We should be doing this ALL GAME vs a mediocre Ole Miss defense with a DC who likes to bring pressure. There will be opportunities to get them guessing and out of position if they will just go back to that well.

Agreed. He should have made a change here last season. I think BK has it going in a very positive way, but not fixing that issue is a little baffling to me. It’s really the biggest weakness of the team and it was a big weakness last year even with the talent they had.

We couldn’t run last year with 4 OL getting drafted. It is not a talent issue. Davis does a good job teaching them how pass block, but know one has developed into a good run blocker since he has been here.

I totally get what you're saying, but doesn't scheme fall under coaching also?

That is exactly why I don't understand why this isn't being addressed. How do you have 4 OL drafted and you finished last in the conference in rushing? These coaches are paid very nicely, so it's time to produce or hit the unemployment line because, at this point, this has become comical. The current situation is a perfect recipe for getting more RBs injured and maybe even our QB!

I meant technique and toughness for coaching, but yes it's technically all coaching

Talent is there. It's not elite talent, but it's pretty dang good talent. We just haven't put them in positions to succeed for the reasons I laid out.

Maybe we should shift our focus from huge guys to just big guys who can move. Our O-line seems really slow.

The announcers last night actually pointed out issues with the RB’s not seeing the holes… they were spot on

If a RB at this level isn't seeing the hole, he shouldn't be starting. These young RBs think they can outrun people to the corner like they did in high school.

If the RB isn't seeing the hole, replace him. I think Johnson is our best bet, at this time.

The OL has regressed. It will show this week against a good team. If LSU cannot run the ball they will definitely lose. OM secondary is pretty good. They are shite against the run. But, our OL is just average. brad can recruit, is lacking in coaching them up. OL have to have a mean streak and bulldoze down the field. I see them block some then stand up and get knocked over. Bad technique. I do not see LSU winning this week if we cannot score more than 30 points against OM at home. We lose. Take the over.

What's missing in this thread? Let's see aaaaaahhhhhh let me think.... Oh I know where is the Sloan hate? All of a sudden now the IAABC mob is after Davis. The mob was wrong about Sloan and will be wrong about Davis.

The IAABC mob is fun to watch.
