This is actually the worst thing they could do. You don't let one entitled and disgruntled player who feels "disrespecked" control the narrative. He totally shite the bed the way he and his PR team handled this.

9 should be still in rotation if it’s not permanently retired. 20 is off the board because they permanently retired it.
Let these Heisman winners get 5 years no one gets to wear the jersey, then give them a statue after the 5th year. Equal for all. No splitting hairs about championships or if you wanna make it about that, then state it in the bylaws.
Giving JD (a Heisman winner) 3 years before putting his jersey in circulation again is straight disrespect btw. 3 years that’s all he gets?
