Last year we were 6-1 and #10 in the country going into the Texas A&M game. He’ll conveniently ignore this response

Nah I won’t. I think this years defense at home is better equipped to not go full retard against Marcel Reed. Aggie has not won in Death Valley since joining the conference and I think that continues. I think we’re 7-1 headed into Bama.

What if I told you the Defense would be 5th in PPG?

That's excellent. And NO LSU fan is unhappy about that. But what if someone told you in 2023 LSU would have the No. 1 offense, and most dominant player in college football at QB...yet accomplished nothing of real note because of a woefully ineffective defense?

That's what the fans are annoyed about. They can see LSU has a great defense. They can see what should be solid pieces in place to at least have an average offense. Yet, 1/2 through the season the offense is still struggling...with seemingly little adjustment to hopefully avoid wasting the efforts of the great defense. Because of that, fans are understandably skeptical LSU can reach the bar necessary to make the CFP and compete for a championship.

That doesn't mean the fans won't remain interested in the season or hopeful for great success. It just means that until LSU shows significant improvement offensively their optimism for greatness will remain guarded. That's not unreasonable. In fact, it's pretty logical. If LSU comes out and has a great offensive output vs. Vanderbilt you will see more optimism for a great season return.

LSU would be 5-1 and ranked in the Top 10 every single one of you would have taken it and you fricking know it. I don’t get people being upset about shite that hasn’t happened yet. I truly hope you have more happiness in your real life then you do in your fandom of the team you follow.

Sure with zero context we would all be glad we are 5-1.

But after watching the offense for half a season and knowing the upcoming schedule, anyone with an ounce of objectivity knows there is trouble ahead.

You are letting blind hope outweigh real evidence of what this team really is.

People are upset because the adjustments that need to be made to prepare for these future games are not being addressed.

AND
SHOULD have been addressed in Spring and pre season training. It's not like these issues caught us by surprise. A multi million dollar staff should have caught and corrected these problems early on.

We are not talking fine tuning but rather significant and systemic problems

Now consider the first 6 opponents records vs how strong they were expected to be and consider that the only decent team LSU has played is Ole Miss and they lost.

Consider that LSUs offense is putrid and this was evident last year.

Consider that BK balked at the idea of replacing Sloan.

Consider that he hasn't replaced Nuss in 3 years despite knowing Nuss is a liability.

Imagine dumping a million dollars into an investment that profits you 500$ a month in profit and then going "its profitable what else do you want?!"

In most cases, I would agree with you.
If our record in our last 6 games is 5-1, I think everyone would be thrilled considering 'how' the team has 'looked' so far this year.
The problem is that some on this board are able to project that 'how' we have played has not significantly improved game to game.
So with that in mind, it is not hard to project that this level of play will not beat Ala, A&M, or Okla. It makes games like Arky, and Vandy much closer games than we anticipated at the beginning of the year. So it is not a crazy take to project that LSU could be 8-4 or even 7-5 by the end of the year. EIther way, the 'you are what your record says you are' doesn't project to be what LSU fans expected or were led to believe would be. That is where the angst lies. If we were predicted that this was a rebuild year and we wre 5-1, I am pretty sure most on this board would be very excited and encouraged that we could actually win 8 games. It is all about expectation, and LSU is not meeting what most here expected, mainly because we continue to see the same issues with little change, game after game. I hope we play our last 6 like we all were expecting before the season started. Then I think the Lair would ecstatic.
