College football isn’t the same anymore. I know we lost to Alabama in 2011 but we would have had to play them anyway with the way the system is set up now. College football doesn’t need a playoff system. The playoff committee is a joke. Side note: LSU beats Clemson by 45. GEAUX Tigahs

Dude we are in the championship. It’s a new year also. Stop looking for crap to whine about.

BCS also said after we killed OU in NC game that we were tied with #3 USC....so there's that.

I don’t think that’s how it worked

Use the bcs rankings to determine the top 4

USC was not tied with LSU in final BCS standings. LSU was the clear #1 there. USC claimed a split title because the media voted them #1 in the AP (Associated Press) Poll. Prior to the BCS & CFP, the AP had been THE poll used to determine National Champions for several years.

Agree. Playoffs do not guarantee a true champion and they dilute the relevance of other bowls

And the BCS did? They gave OU the nod over USC after getting throttled by K-State.

WTF are you bitching about? The committee nailed it this year. They had three undefeated P5 teams, and they seeded them perfectly. They had to let one pretender in, and they probably picked the right one. The four team playoff is the perfect thing for college football, imo. If you expanded it to eight you’d be letting in four more shitty teams that would be blown out by the LSU/Clemson/Ohio States of that particular year. We didn’t need Baylor, Oregon, Florida and Georgia in the playoffs this year.

And if we changed it to a computer selection process, or expanded it to eight teams, DhanTigers212 would surely be complaining about THAT.

Its better than what we have now.

You had 100+ voters (ap + coaches) and 5 different computer polls making the decision.

Now you just have 13 people.

Which one has the potential to allow more frickery?

Exactly. And the AP was just one component of the BCS. Everyone knew the rules and formula going into the season. USC was fine with it until it worked against them. It’s a BS claim.

EVERYBODY, including USC, agreed before the 2003 started that BCS is the law of the land. Pete Carroll cried over spilled milk. It's only a shared NC if you give in to the rhetoric. LSU's 2003 NC was legit. It was the ONLY NC, regardless of the howling wolves.

I think the committee used the BCS as their primary tool for weekly rankings

Yep, reminds me of the old mantra, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Why did the BCS need to be fixed again?

Because the best two teams in 2011 were from the same division and that pissed off non-SEC audiences.

Question: will we ever see a "small school" make the final 4? Can a non-Power 5 team ever make the cut? How?
